newbie from Texas

Hi, I am from Texas and i am probably the youngest member of the HAMB. I am an 18 year old college student. My dad has been restoring cl***ic cars from the 60's and 70's since highschool and i have been helping him since i was 8. Although i love GTO's and other muscle cars i have always been interested in the body styles of cars from the mid 30's to the late 40's. My dad's friend told my dad, who, in turn, told me about this site about a month ago. I became addicted to it immediately, going on it mostly every day reading thecl***ifieds and the tech articles. i was hooked. I admit i don't know very much about pre-64 cars, but i hope to learn quickly. Right now i am trying to learn more about flathead six's like the 201 in the 37 plymouth i just purchased. I will probably join the alliance soon because not only do you recieve a fair amount of discounts, but also i would like to do a small part to help fund this site further. It is a great site. I hope to learn alot from this site and make some friends while i'm at it. So again, HOWDY FROM TEXAS!!!

Hey Mallory, how's it going? Yes it is freakin awesome to see the youngin's on here, I wish when I was y'alls age I had a place like this. I was however brought up around a bunch of local restorers, and hot rodders. My dad was one hell of a wicked mechanic, and could build and fix anything. Well I kinda fall into these same lines. Austin if you can do it get your dad and a bunch of his buddies to go too. It not just about the show at the round up. It is the atmosphere, you have to make the trip ride over to south congress and just walk and cruise the streets. It is an AWESOME experience you will see more awesome rides and people than you could ever imagine, and just wait until you are 21 hahahahaha

Oh yeah, there are a ton of super cool guys there in Houston as well. Some are a bit wild and crazy Richard D ha ha He is freakin cool as ice though. You gotta love his sarcasm, There is never a dull moment with richard around. Really down to earth, Lucky Strikes is super cool dude too, always willing to point ya in the right direction. I can not remember all of the other guys out there but always a good bunch of folks hangin out.

 

Thanks for the advice will and thanks for telling my the names of some car guys in houston. My dad knows a lot of other car guys but they mostly mess withcars from the 60's and 70's i will have to look some of these guys up if i need a helping hand in person with my 37 plyouth taxi.
