I'm not really into these big 'ol chevys, especially a 4-door, but it's in pretty good condition and the price is right :).

I know you guys like pictures, so as soon as it's parked at my house, you will see it. First i have to find a way to get it here.

Can anything be done to these to make these cars more styelish.
I was thinking about maybe moving the center post back, splitting the front door and grafting a section of rear door into it, making it into a 2-door converible.
Can that be done with relative ease?

I'm sure there's some of these cars on here. Maybe you guys could show me pictures of your car and tell me what mods you did.

Yea, that looks pretty cool vintagered13. Looks like you used the bed and cab back of an early to mid '50's chevy 3 window truck. Looks like it was made for it. I was sort of thinking of keeping it a car, just modifying it somewhat to bring out the wow factor. I'm just kicking around some ideas right now. I wouldn't do anything to it untill after my pick-up is done. I just can't turn this sale down because of how cheap it is.
Anybody else have any cool mods to add.

Four door 46-48 Chevy's can look very good with minimal efforts. Just shave them, Frensh the headlights and drop them on the ground. Leave them four door... they do lok good that way.
All Ihave to show is this one... just ignore the Taxi sign and not matching hubcaps... I will try to scan a few others later on..

But if you wan to go all the way.
This one From Sweden was made from a very rusty four door.... but then, they do have very long and cold winters in Skandinavia.

I love fat fendered sedans,I'm doing a 47 Lincoln Zephyr myself, I have a friend that has a summer up a couple hours north, we were up that way for a family trip and stopped in to see him, I had asked him if he had any old cars laying around, he said nothing good, but in the back by the horse correls was this same car 46-47 chev sedan, not cherry but very restorable, there were old car parts scattered all over his place, and I only got a brief tour around the house, he has 1500 acres so there is no telling what else is laying around, like a lot of old timers he has to think about the chevy, he'll never touch it but yet won't turn it loose, yet!

I found one ,,it's a 2 door Stylemaster 1948. It's the Town Sedan, one thing I noticed on these cars is that the proportions aren't that great, the hood looks as though it's a Beluga whale coming up for air.
Because of that I cut my hood into 6 peices and lowered the nose about 5 inches and then shortened the front fenders about a foot. Then frendhed the headlights and sunk a '46 Chevy grille into it. Shaved/migged the trim holes, locks, wipers and trunk stuff, then made a rollpan. Plus it has flawless bodywork because it'll be gloss black. All these things have helped it from the start.
Next, it gets candy red flames with silver base and white pinstriping.
    I know,,
Very boring and tradional,,but it's mine. I'll post pictures of it through the last 2 years in another post . Heres where it's at rat now.

Yea, there we go. That tan drop-top from Sweden that Rikster posted is something like what i had i mind. I'll ad that picture to the many others i've been collecting off the internet.
I still haven't finalized the deal for this car yet. The car isn't really for sale to the general public, so i'm not that worried it will fall through. I'm hoping to get it next wekend. I'll post some pictures when i get it.

Rikster, do you know what all was involded in getting that car to it's current look. Did they cut'n splice the existing doors or did they use doors and posts from a 2-door car and trim and weld the rear door up?

Vin-Tin, I have send you a PM with some more info.

It looks like the Convertible used some extra two door sedan or coupe doors for its conversion.

In my personal opinion pie-cut sectioning of the hood on 46-48 Chevy's only looks good it you are going for a dry race car look. Or at least the car needs a severe forward rake.
If not... it looks extremely weird!
The high nose of these cars looks absolutely perfect, especially on a taildragging custom.... but thats only my opinion.

Here is another very nice four door (1948 Chevy) that looks very good, with only "minimal" body modifications.
John Aeillo and Darryl Hollenbeck at Acme Custom Cars built this one in the late 90's...

Should have put some black paper behind it when I scanned it to prefent the back from bleeding thru... oh well, you get the idea.
