Hello to all! Been lurkin' for a while gettin ideas and now a member. This site is great, and its about time the vintage rigs have somewhere to be talked about and enjoyed, not cussed and crushed.

Starting a new project here in North Texas, a 79' Jeep CJ5 based around the look and idea of a G***er. Originally bought to be a rockcrawler, Iam an ex drag race guy that turned 4x4, and now am coming back home ;), but is now headed 180 degrees of itself.

There is not that much data on building something of this nature and can't go "period correct" since its a 79 so it should be an interesting project.

**Edit: Tried to add a pic but it tells me the file extension is wrong??**

    Welcome txg***er!

You might want to be careful with yer "79" around here some people might pick on it. kidding aside. its a great place for info & poke around in the old posts before you stick yer neck out.

Thanks 440, I tried to post a pic but it says the file extension is wrong. The pic is a .jpg file? :(

The project is torn down to the frame to remove the front axle, re build the rear and stretch the wheelbase a bit while building motor mounts for the new 2wd powerplant and ******.

Yeah I figured the 79 would get razzed a bit, but oh well, we all build what we have, what we like, and what we can afford right?

Howdy from Hatchie...you know...I think I have actually seen pics of an' old jeep g***er and it looked pretty good! One thing for sure it will be original and not too many guys can say that. I applaud your willingness to do your own thing. Cheers, John
