I just landed in Kalamazoo, MI and there doesn't appear to be a lot to do. Any hambers have projects they wanna show off or shop tours? I'm here today and tomorrow (I have a few hours in the evenings after work to kill). I didn't bring my laptop, so I'll check back in later. Thanks. Root
There are some in the area. Not sure on what kinda regularity they check in. Search a NSRA Kzoo thread for their screen names and send some PM's. The Gilmore Musuem is in the area and really worth a stop but not sure of their hours. There is a really cool junkyard just a few miles to the west in Mattawan. Exit at the Mattawan exit #66 and turn right (north), go to first light, Red Arrow Highway, and turn right, down less then a mile on your left. Use to know the old owner but I just heard he sold. Lots of old cars. It's a collage town so any bar near campus will be hopping I would imagine.
Me, but I work tommorow, and my garage has been declared a disaster area, toxic waste site, and unfit for showing off to strangers...
Wander on over to Flint. I feel like I owe ya a beer or two just for the wheelie pics I have saved......
I wouldn't mind going back to MI. I grew up in Muskegon, and spent a few years in Flint before becoming a Hoosier 2 years ago. Let me know when MI is done with their depression, lol. The Gilmore museum is very cool. They have a Tucker.
Here are the hours for the Gilmore museum: OPEN DAILY MAY 1 - OCTOBER 31 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturdays & Sundays until 6 p.m If you've got any interest in WWII aircraft, the Kalamazoo Air Zoo is a good place to see and they have FREE general admission. Make sure to see the annex and restoration hanger.
I was stuck in Kalamazoo last July , Gilmore was well worth seeing. The Cowboy bar in town wasn't bad the food was great.
