looks like this is in good shape, will this fit a 42-48 ford car axle? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=4401729#post4401729
I think so but one of the Ford brake swap experts will have to chime in and tell you for sure. I did a couple of searches and didn't find the exact info. A guy up here has the whole axle with an ugly spring and radius rod setup for the sam price that I'd like to get for parts for my Model A axle that I have stashed out back. <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
They can be used on the front. There is an inner bearing fit problem but that can be taken care of easily. Street Rodder had an article about using F1 and F100 brakes on early spindles, gives you the proper bearing, seals etc. Maybe about a year ago. I did a F100 (53-56) swap on an earlier axle. Make sure the inner races on the hub are good - I understand you cannot replace them if they are bad????
those F-1 brakes can be used on your on your front spindles. it is a great upgrade to your existing brakes. i have them on my `36 . all you need to know about doing the swap is in the tech archive here is a link: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5877 basically , you need to change the inner bearing and use a different seal
