Have you tried to spread the worrd about the HAMB? When I'm talking to car guys I usually mention the HAMB because I think it represents what is happening now in the car-guy/hot-rodder world. To my surprise most folks never heard of the HAMB. Am I alone?

I told them when asked what HAMB was, well I tell them it's where a man can go and be made fun of , told hes a dumb ***, and they laugh at your car. The look on their face...they say " why" , I say " it's fun".

Most folks I tell about it just kinda give me the deer in the headlights look. The wife doesn't understand why I don't like the billet and bling ****.

  12. I'm pretty selective, there are already too damned many high zoot guys on here for my taste.

I directed a young fella here the other day who was looking for an early '60s Belaire, don't know if he made the trip.

Try being 17 and telling people at car shows about the HAMB. I've never heard that many weird responses or seen that many dumb looks in my life, too bad I can't charge for dumb looks.

  18. I agree this is the best automotive web site due to the vast bank of information and a collective spirit for tradtional cars but not every one gets it, hard to belive, but true. The infidels are the chainers, the billet crowd etc., but they are not our enemy my brothers, no, they are lost in the desert wandering as some of us here once were, so cast not judgement, but set an example of the brotherhood we know and cherish. When confronted by the evil doers who practice sorcery of billet gods, just remember the HAMB chant, " chrome, ome..........whitewalls, ...alls........."

It's push/pull thing. I'd prefer people who 'get it,' not just everyone who thinks they're a hot rodder, so I'm selective.

I was at the Monster Mopar event and was wearing my black Hamb shirt. I was amazed at all the people that greeted me by Fellow Hamber.

I tell all the old car guys, especially if they have a lot of billet.

used too, but like some other "gospel" it seem to fall on deaf ears.

If I meet someone who is into old cars and "traditional" built hot rods I'll mention it to them, but I think there are enough people on here already who "don't get it" and try to make this forum what they feel it should be to about, to just tell everyone about the HAMB.

Hell, you can't even preach the HAMB gospel here on the HAMB without being called a restorer or starting a food fight about how hot rodding is all about change.

But yes if I meet someone that gets it, I can talk their ears off and listen and learn as well. I'm not a preacher. I'm not trying to change the world...I'm only doing what I enjoy.

The talent, the ideas, the arguments, the disagreements, the imagination, keeping the tradition alive - it's all here and hell yes I tell anyone who talks about old cars to me about the HAMB!

If I don't even know what this means - does that mean I'm one of them? HIgh, maybe. Zoot....dunno.

I always knew that billet, bling and street rods were Just Wrong, but I didn't know why until I discovered the HAMB. Hallelujia, I've been saved!

I'm still a sinner since I prefer european cars, but the expertise on the HAMB always amazes me, and I can't get enough.

  30. Where else can you go to ask stupid questions about old cars? Ahhh, nowhere but here and thats fine by me.
