...last time I skated was about 10 years ago, maybe a little shorter. Just had the urge yesterday with the weather being so nice to go to this new skateshop this chick from my town owns and pick up a complete just to keep in my trunk....

    picked this guy up...

basically took the kids word for it as I havent skated in a while, i told him a little wide with not to crazy concave....and indy trucks (he said trackers ****ed???!!!)

now....last time i skated i was landing 360 kickflips, going anywhere from 5-8 stair 180s. switch kickflips.

yesterday i got on the board and almost busted my ***!!!!!!!!!!!

anyone ever stop for this long and then start up again? im hoping its like riding a bike....hahah but got really discouraged yesteday!! hahah, even pulled up to the skatepark near my house to see some kids skating the ramps there....****...i turned around and went home hahahah ill go back when its dark!!!!

any tips?!? need some words of encouragement!

P.S. whats up with all these new things its crazy!!(not in a "bad" way i guess) hell i had to even pick out my hardware...and griptape....and had like a bazillion choices!! when is skated it was whatever new powell deck (hell, when it used to be powell peralta) trackers or indyss, acid raid/slimball wheels and some no-name grip tape hahah.

Yeah. It hurts to get old. It also hurts more to fall down when you weigh 40 lbs more.

Yeah I've taken time off, it gets harder each time you take a break. I recommend just pushing around and cruising for a the first couple of times. Maybe find a cool lot and just cruise, maybe a little hill. It'll come back, slowly...

I don't like Trackers either, but then I ride very loose trucks and they don't seem to like it...

I've been going over to a friend of mine's house and his son is starting to skate so he always ask me to skate with him. Like you said I used to be able to do all these tricks and now I can barely olie.... [IMG] Its really discourging all those years of practice down the drain. I'd go get a deck and start again just to prove to myself but having my own shop I really can't afford a sprained ankle or broken wrist.
Maybe I've just become a ***** in my older age( cause I'm not old yet )

what ****s is when i skated, we had to hitchhike to get to skatespots only to get our free ride home by the cops haha. now i can drive to the skateshop (1 of 10000) and p*** 3 skateparks!!! actually it doesnt **** its awesome!!! just need to get some practice in before i litterally "hit" the ramps again.

  6. I skated in my teenage years, sponsored ramp skater...but my p***ion was BMX. I quit skating to race bmx full time, and about 5 yrs after i put down the board I picked it back up again and felt like I was starting over. It took about 3 hours of farting around some ramps to be able to transfer spines, pull any type of air, and NOT bust my ***.

I did the same with BMX. I quit racing at 19, and only occaisionally rode around ith friends. But about 6 months ago I went down to Houston and some friends had a few big ramps setup. So I got back on the bike and had to work my way back up, just like when I jumped on the board for the first time in years. I rode that whole night ********. The next day my body was so sore I had to call into work, and I didn't even move out of bed. The sad thing is, I'm only 26. [IMG]

  7. YEAH,Its tough. I have taken a longbreak and now its hard to get back on and do what you used to be able to do everyday. I just started carving around and 1st, then trying to ollie again, then I was kickflipping and then I fell. [IMG] damn, that hurt more than I remember, and like what was said it hurts more when you weigh 40lbs more like in my case. So now I am at the point where I try to skate more parks and carve hopeing to grind then street skate and kill myself. Its odd to be the old man at the park now, I never thought that would be me.. and remember when you fall and the kids do whatever you just fell on with no prob, just tell yourself "oh yeah well at least my car is better that your Honda", [IMG] j/k...

I've created a monster... I'm all for the skate lifestyle and influences of art, but lets not make these posts a regular thing. Cool? I'm not raggin' on anyone here - I started it... I just want to get ahold of it before we turn into a digital Thrasher or something...

i stopped skating in 96 do to blowing out my knee.it was a dumb trick.my friend found a school roof for me to kickflip off of. it had a gap and a railing you had to clear.well i cleared everything but i landed wrong.my knee popped out of socket.came out and went right back in.the noise my bones made moving in and out was what scared me the most.it didnt even hurt when it happened.well 3yrs later i had full reconstuction surgery on the knee.i was scared to get back on a board.i did and my buddies got all pissed off at me.i get all my tricks back in about the third try.switch 360 flips.switch 360 big spin flips.but know i get drain in about 20 min.so i just jump on and make sure i can do a few tricks and have fun cruisin and doing splappies. ...Rob......do a little stretching to get loose (or roll around with your "model") before you skate. Start back with
the basics and work your way up to the fancy **** .....

Or do like Sk8/Maphis and take a bong hit, sniff some glue, ogle some ****, THEN get on a board.....you will have fun no matter what you do....

  23. Call me crazy, but I think your girlfriend likes attention.

Coming from a guy who used to skate OK and now ****s, just take it slow and realize your body has changed since back when. If you're going to ride parks, get some knee pads and wrist guards. It's worth it.

........Nov. 20th 1997 was the last bong hit! (March 30th 1968 was the first) I never could do drugs and skate. I waited until I was done........Skating saved me from doing anything else.

    HEY KIDS...........DON'T DO DRUGS!!!!

just went out for a cruise around the 'hood. gotta tighten up the trucks a little till i get used to it again,

MAN didnt realize how outta freakin' shape im in!!!

so, im out walkin my dog and these kids these kids in my building that skate, maybe 12-15 yrs old...they always laugh at my dog (dont blame them hes a toy chihuahua about 5 lbs)so i say, ok smart ***, i see you on that new fangled skateboard all the time, i bet i can skate better than you (being the mature adult that I am). they laughed...(ill show them punk whippersnappers)..so i play stupid...say....i even got my own skateboard! they were like "yeah...right" so i put the dog in the house .i asked them where they skate close...and went to the car and got my board...when i pulled it out the 1 kid had the "no way" look on his face..hahah. they took me to this parking lot right accross from my apartment....PROPERTY OF THE LOCAL COPS!! the damn courthouse parking lot next to the police station!!! they said they dont get h***led. so needless to say, i had to set the rules.....any trick you can do i can do better in 3 tries...

man thank god these kids werent very good, i think 1 kid landed 1 kickflip but i still beat him.

i did pretty good, at least i remember how to freakin ollie and kickflip (takes me a few tries haha)

Hooligan - I know you and have NEVER seen you skate. I think you're really into rollerblades, rainbows and fluffy things! All I can say is ditto, started skating again last summer and ended up breaking a few ribs and messed up my ankle within a few weeks apart. I haven't been skating too much since then! [IMG] Rad deck BTW
