Well after Bonneville this year, I decided I was sick and tired of my truck being a pie of rust when I brought it back home so I said, what the hell? I am going to give her a nice paint job and re-do some of the areas we took short cuts on the first time around for building. This is what we have now. A new 425 Buick Nailhead with the new sp 400 tranny. Did all the body work to the cab, (left a few dents for character) thats always nice haha. Re-doing the wheels. 18" dodge wheels in the front with the firestone ribbed tires. The 20" identical versions to the back. Electroline taillights, old military green gas tank, and the biggest part, getting the truck wired the right way... wow the list goes on. I cant wait to finish the truck and get it back on the road. NO MORE RUST!

hahaha ya I had a hard time trying to pick out colors. It was very difficult trying to get a yellow that wasnt too bright or too orangey. I have an old 1939 ford cab that had the green and yellow and thought it would look bad ass on my truck. I am going to come up with a name for the side and do some pinstriping around the cab. Thinkin maybe a salvage yard name or a tow yard? Gotta find some old ones that were in reno during that time.

    Hi!
you got a really nice truck! The looks of the truck is great. When I go to US it would be nice to go to Bonneville and take a lot of pictures.

    Keep up the good work
    Best Regards

With the color choice, why not an implement dealer?

I liked it when it was patena yellow with wrecked metals on the side. This truck is why I purchased a 36' international it looked great and unique. Id like the color scheme on a 1 ton flatbed as a shop truck. Thats just my taste lol good luck on it I would like to see the finished piece though I could be totally wrong...

  11. Good idea; that would make the theme work.....But, then again, so would using an old, local tow co. signage...

Thats what I am not sure about, I need to get in touch with some old buys from Reno and see. I also know that 4th street was the car dealership central in the 50's. Might do something like that. I dont want to screw up the name on the side so I need to give it thought.

I like the ole "Hamel Manure" We haul your shit. thats a good one!

Ya I liked the rusted metal look too but I HATED the work to keep the rust under control. Without a clear over the metal the body was getting some cancer on the passenger side lower door panel that need to get fixed. I would always dread cleaning the salt off after B-ville. That sale is still everywhere!

I liked the green and yellow paint scheme and never thought about John Deere had those same colors! haha but a car dealership name would be neat too. The truck originaly is from Idaho and was a public works truck back when it was new!

There is so much old shit out in your neck of the woods, errrr.....desert. What about that '34 Ford pickup sitting right next to 95 as you head out of Goldfield towards Tonapah.
And I think you're right about the up around Mustang Ranch. I know on the way to Hawthorne there is a lot of stuff strewn about the desert.

'34 1 1/2 ton is part of the Goldfield museum display. They'd be cranky if I took it. Did you notice a '39 pickup that used to sit under the trees at the Green Parrot Saloon? It's at my house now:D. I'm beating the bushes. Crap isn't laying all over the desert like it was 25 years ago though.

I didnt get time to really beat the bushes. I was racing Vegas to Reno back in August and we went through Goldfield in a blink trying to get to Pit 4 on Day 1. I didn't get to see much of Tonapah either. It was just getting dark when we got to the finish, and we went straight to work to get the car to impound in time. We saw tons of stuff out on the middle of nowhere which was real close to next to nowhere. I didnt have much time to lollygae.

Hey! Yes we are right close to Mustage Ranch which in in mound house. That is about 30mins from Reno, we get a lot of parts out there from a bunch of junk yards. There is stuff going away there all the time though, there is definitely not the cars out in the desert as there used to be. Hey InDaShop, you raced V2R? I will be doing that next year on a dirtbike. I race semi-professionally out here in Reno and have wanted to race that dirtbike race for a long time now. Long live the desert!

Yeah I desert race, the new Class 4400's. That the Unlimited 4x4's, like King of the Hammers, Ultra 4. Casey Folks (BITD) was nice enough to allow us to to come race his series, and its been awesome. I just wished I lived closer to that area, being on the Gulf Coast, everything is a 20+ hour drive.

As for racing Dirt Bikes, you my friend are crazy!!! I'd be riding like a mad man, knowing that there was a McMillian, Baldwin, MacCachren, Gordon in a Trophy Truck who started two hours behind me hunting me down......
