I'm sure we agree on many things. What make is the flathead six? I found a '60 Dodge truck the other day that would make a different project. It was a runner/driver that had a flat six and a four speed; granny low I'm sure. The ol' lady says I have to get rid of something before getting a new project; no room; lest I get a hard look and a sharp tongue. She's right as usual.

  3. Mine's a Pontiac original 239 straight six with a three speed manual.The 2 carbs are 2 barrel Strombergs.

You should get the Dodge and store it in friends garage, till its road ready.
After all, women always enjoy the ride!

Biz-Mon. I have two Strombergs on the 258ci flathead V8 that's in my '27 lakester. I think I'm running a little rich. Do you know who may have some smaller main jets? I think I have 48's now. I'm going to look at the Dodge again today. It's already a runner driver for $2500. The same guy has a '50 Chevy parts truck (no ***le) with a complete drive train for only $250. That may be an option for a 2-3 year project; find the rest of it with a ***le later on. These things have a habit of working themselves out. My councilor is in Fla. until Tues. so I have some time to decide.

  5. Pig-pen,
I'll look through my spare parts and let you know...
Sounds like both trucks would make nice haulers.
Post pics of the two, after the visit.

Biz-Mon. I bought the Chevy. It turns out that it has a later 235 six in it with the four speed. It has five lug wheels and it looks to have been rodded a bit; possibly a car rear w/ torque tube. My buddy Goober says he has all of the parts to complete the truck and will probably trade for some electrical work. I don't know as much about early Chevys as I do Fords but I guess I'm going to find out. I'm not set up for photos yet; no camera; not of the computer generation; need a school. Thanks for looking through your parts.

She didn't like it until I reminded her that the last one I sold paid for her face lift! Not such a hard look anymore!

I hope I don't run into anything with it. I'll be tearing it apart during the next year or so. I'll have to research what year it actually is and check the condition as I go. How do you like subbing in the school system? I thought about doing that but I hear the kids today are real monsters. Thanks,

  9. So does anyone know if the guy at Wizzz mag actually wants to SELL these mags? I don't understand having a website with email details if you're not gonna keep an eye on them.....??? [IMG]
This is getting a bit too common....a website and email for their own sake. Where's the old-fashioned service?

  10. You can find out more about the Wizzz magazine by visiting these H.A.M.B. friendly web sites:
    www.thehotrodshop.com and www.wizzzmag.com
Both have e-mail contact info on their sites.

I'm not selling this magazine, but I did start this posting.
    Sorry for the confusion.

  11. I don't need to find out more about the mag....I just need to see if the guy answers emails!!

    I'm a zine dealer myself.

    Cool link.Thanks.

"Paid up for a two year subscription immediately, stupidly.
Guess what? No mag, ever. That site hasn't changed or updated in the last year, no magazine as come out, the guy running the scam is ignoring people's requests for a refund (including mine) and has even had the balls to 'renew' some unfortunate subscribers for another year - without delivering a single issue."

I thought the Royal Mountys in Canada had the Wizzard, I was waiting for him to get out so I could get the rest of my subscription that I paid for ? You sure his address is Iowa yet ? We are talking about the same S.O.B. the thin man that almost slipped through his A-hole! Charlie Mansion

I love how people talk on the computer about this and that.......then when they see the guy - they have a totally different approach.

I had a guy email me 2 years ago asking if I know how to get in touch with him........I didnt

then I saw him on FRIDAY at the Hunnert - he comes in asking if the Wizzard is gonna be there - I said I have no idea.

He says - If he is here he is gonna kick his *** - he'll be sorry - blah blah blah

Guess who shows up on Sat morn?

    Wizzard

guess who rolls in RIGHT when the show opens - this guy.......

I am thinking - oh wow - fireworks - action at the show before it even starts.......

watching from about 4 tables away - the guy walks up to the Wizzard.............................

    and gives him a hug.

    what is THAT?

talk smack - and when cruch time comes you cave like that?

I try not to talk any **** for this reason - I am a lover - not a fighter -

Wizzard has always been straight up with me - I bought magazines from him - I gave him money - he gave me product.

    BUT

I no longer carry his magazine cause I just dont like hearing people drone on about how they are owed $$ by the guy.

He was at his show that he puts on every year in Davenport IA and I talked to him for a bit- trying to get a mailing list out of him- but he did not wanna give me.

    That is cool.

I suspect he will be at the Hunnert - and the same scenario will go down - people will ask him what is up and he will tell them something about all his stuff getting ruined in the floods. Some say he did get everything ruined - others say different........only the Wizzard knows.

All I know - The Wizzard is in NO WAY affiliated with our show.

I have had several people ask me this - and it should be noted that he has NOTHING to do with our show. All people are welcome to show up- but he is not involved in the art show, swap meet, track prep, vendor area, bands, car registration, stripers, or anything I have forgot.

The guy is amazing to talk to and he has stories that will make ya laugh til you cry. If he is at the Hunnert have him tell ya about the time he ran outta gas by the river - FUNNNNY!

And I am sure the other side of the coin will be at the Hunnert this weekend as well - ask BizMon about his side of the story as well.

Somewhere in the middle is the truth right?

The Wizzard that had "The Wizz" mag and the Fyling Eyeball show in Davenport was based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa until June 2008 when his building had 10' of Cedar river in it. I see him around Eastern Iowa from time to time.

I too have a 2 year paid in advance subscription to his model car mag. I am more bummed by that fact it never came out than the money I am out.

I still show people the magazine. They are all amazed at what a fine mag it was. They would like to subscribe. Then I tell tham it is no more. I really enjoyed it and was bummed it went under. The $20.00 doesn't matter. I would like to see him put out another one someday.

  24. JAWs,

I'm going to kick yours next time I see you, then I'm going kiss your wife and hugg your kids...Seroisly though, good luck with your upcoming show in Iowa and I'll see you in Detroit...if not soon. Maybe around the QC?!?

Until then try to leave the old, fat, overalls wear guys alone.
