im building a '29 ford 2-door sedan. what rear ends are you guys putting under these things. it needs to handle a moderate amount of power. my wheels have 3.5" back spacing. whats wide enough? my wheels are unilug so if i have to go chevy its no biggie. i was thinking something from a mid 70's ford full size but i dont think the gear will be very good. opinions?

It's usually easier to change gear ratio, than it is to change width/bolt pattern/find brakes etc. Especially on the 9" ford rearends
i took some measurements and with the wheels i have its gonna look like i need some thing about 63" from face to face. can this be right? the tires need about 4.5" clearence from the hub face. i have a 1 foot kickup in the frame.
I"m runnin' a 66 Fairlane 8". Seems to work good.(eventhough I just broke it last Sunday) Spining 1932 18" wheels is tough on a 2.80 gear set! All in all it's ok. I might switch it to a Ford 8.8", Alot of ratios and widths to choose from and posi from the factory.
i hear alot about the 8.8's. i dont get it. i dont see how they fit. from what i know they are only 59" wide from face to face. i think i would have to buy wheel spacers to get it to fit.
