From reading this forum, I know that some of the members are very knowledgeable about Jags, and I have read posts about suspension swaps for mid to late 80’s Jags. I saw a 90 Model in a salvage yard and will be heading there soon with a tape measure and caliper to check things out. So far I have discovered that the 90-94 model seems to be different than earlier models with a 4.0 V6. I know that the older cars have a 63” wide suspension which should work for whichever one of my two antiques I am thinking about building. Would this car be posi? Gears? 90-94 suspension width? Swaybars? Is it still rear steer? Will the ABS brakes work okay in a non-ABS application? Are the hubs any smaller allowing modern wheels like Torque Thrust II with Vette/Camao offsets? Or will the hubs have to be ground down? Is this a good car to work with or are the 89 and older cars better? If so, how? How much are the suspensions worth?

Great, if you're building a street rod.

are the newer rears still IRS units and modular?

  6. Yes they are. I drive a 1993 Black with black leather as a daily driver. One of the best handling and reliable cars I have ever owned.

What size are your brake rotors?

What is the diameter of your front sway bar? Does it use a rear sway bar?

Will I need standard or metric tools to pull the cage and sub frame?

Will I need 1/2" drive large size sockets and long extensions to reach through the cage from the bottom or is there access from the side/front/rear? (I may have to buy tools to pull them)

I have been looking to make a resto rod from one of the following: 51 Ford Pickup, 48 Chevy 3500 Pickup, 55 Pontiac station wagon, 62 Cadillac Ambulance, 73 Mach 1 Mustang, or 68 Coupe Deville. I am looking at buying at least one of these cars soon, and have a deal pending on the Mustang.

Whichever car or truck I get, it will be powered by a Caddy 500 with a modern cam grind that is slightly above stock giving it a bump in power and fuel economy. I have a 472 and a 500 in my garage now.

All three of my project cars have been stolen in the past year. 72 fastback (Mach 1 clone) w Cadyy 500 and 12” GM brakes, 82 Eldorado with 472 and unfinished pro touring suspension, my first car, a 70 Eldorado that I raced in the 1985, and 86 autocross beating all of the older Mustangs, Trans Ams and Camaros.

I prefer Corvette C4 suspension, but I can get the Jag suspension cheap and it looks easier to install and set up. I just don’t know how well it will handle compared to the Jag suspension

lol... not the newer ones for me.

I've only used the 70's-early 80's ones. The newer ones haven't fit anything I was trying to do. No Dana center section on the rear.
