OK, I'm looking to make a few changes. A little input would be great. I would like to do something with the surfboard and maybe the wheels. What do ya'all think it would look like with some widewhites, painted rims (what color?) and dog dishes? Maybe a Blue and white paint job for the board?
Agreed. Wide whites look goofy on cars from the 1960s, particularly small cars. White steelies with blackwalls would certainly be the low-buck option and it would look cool with some smooth little baby moon hubcaps. I don't care about the surfboard, but if you consider it an accessory for the car then it should match the car. Blue with a wide white stripe down the center or off-center.
Need to lose the 280Z wheels. Mayne some whitewalls and I'm not sure about the color on the wheels. Use a funky color or something that stands out.
you don't see a lot of Corvair wagons , i believe the were only made 1 or 2 years? there is one i see around my town here sometimes i say wheels painted body color , dog dish hub caps and narrow white walls
Thanks for all the input. Sorry, to all who don't care for the board, but this car sees alot of beach time in the summer. Ok- I don't surf, but I drive p*** the beach alot! I like the painted wheel thing, might give it a shot. The 280Z rim thing is liked by some, hated by most. Having a hard time locating 4 lug steelies (to cheap to by new) Look for it the Pile-up!!
how about using the wheels from a 60?I only have 1 beauty ring left and it has bowties all around ..kinda kool ..sold this awile back
If you are gonna put a surfboard up there, at least turn the damn thing around. You look like a total kook with it facing backwards...
I would vote for white steel wheels with chrome trim rings and chrome lug nuts no hub caps on black wall tires. Would also try some lace painting on the roof in the same color as the body or some scallops or subtle pin striping on the sides of the car in white. Also to those who didn't study in school there is the little lake with some beach property at the north side of Indiana called Lake Michigan. I think it is one of a few lakes in the US that is fairly great. We midwest folks get a little bit of Summer so we can call sand frontage on a lake a beach even if there is no surf. I like the board and say Keep It Besides if you are building a surf wagon does it matter if you surf? The car is cool and the image is executed well. Good luck.
can you change that over to 5 lugs? seems I remeber the later ones were 5. then you have a wider choice of rims to choose. 14x6 American 5 spokes would look good. 185 60 14's
We live 2 miles from Lake Michigan, about 60 miles of beautiful beaches and sand dunes. Lake Michigan is more like a "lil ocean" than a lake. Check it out sometime, great place for the family (even if it's only 5 months out of the year)
Can you Surf in the Lake?? Please lose the 'board and send it to me,I'll put it to use! If you wanna go cheap on the wheels, use the 'vair steelies and put the stock 'vair wire caps on them.
Thanks again for all the input. Here's a pic of the car with some steels painted white and thin whitewalls. I'm still undecided if I like it. This where just the stockers with a 20 minute rattle can job. Thanks to all the lookers at the Pile-up, and to those of you who made trade offers, I'm giving a few thoughts.
