Event Coverage Darlington Historic Racing Festival...A lil something for everyone!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by gwhite, Sep 28, 2009.

  1. Had a great time at Darlington Raceway's 2nd annual historic racing festival. Got a chance to listen to racing legends Cale Yarborough, Bud Moore, Jounior Johnson, David Pearson, and Johnny Rutherford. Also had a nice visit with '61 Daytona winner Marvin Panch. Plenty of cool cars and lots of good times shooting the bull with the drivers and watching the cars give the 'lady in black' a good run.

David Strachan brought his '62 Wynns Ford out and turned some hot laps (38.68 seconds!). He went home with a 'Darlington stripe' to prove it!

Very cool! I love that '61 Pontiac. I met Marvin Panch some years ago, he is a great guy to talk to and a real gentleman. Did he bring out his recreation of the '60 Pontiac he won at Daytona with?

  5. Wow, I would love to attend that event one day!

  9. He sure did! Although it looked like the original car to my untrained eyes. Texas HAMBer's will get an opportunity to see some of the vintage open wheel cars at the Historic Champ/Indy Racing Assoc. meet at Texas World Speedway in November.

I'm posting this for my friend Rich Hoffman, it was only two weeks ago that we were at Darlington Raceway for the 2009 Darlington Historic Racing Festival, where Rich had been competing in this car and just a couple of days ago Rich and I had talked about how much fun we had, I got to drive his Super Modified and now this happens, what a big letdown it has been, so if anybody comes up with any information please give Rich a call.

This 1966 Culbert Automotive Engineering (CAE) Sprint Car and enclosed trailer was stolen from the locked fenced in yard at Import Specialties 2100 Rosewood Dr. Columbia, SC the evening of October 8, 2009. The race car and equipment was stored inside of a also stolen 2007 LA CARGO "FREEDOM" 7x16 foot Enclosed Trailer, Serial #5TTBE16277D001946, white in color, equipped with tandem axles, a walk in door on the curb side and a ramp/door on the back, it may have some damage on the right side . THERE IS A REWARD. Contact Rich Hoffman at 803-799-2686, 803-799-4401, 803-467-8086
