Show problems ??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by racingonerobb, Oct 11, 2009.

  1. Wish all show goers would take a deep breath and think before they post!! I don't think too many of the shows are put on by pros. I don't think any host club or individual wants problems, they just crop up, who's faults is it that a show grows in unprecedented fashion, who's fault is it that the weather turns bad, unplanned for types of vehicles show up, as there are so many opinions on what fits. They don't plan to upset you on purpose. They understand when things go wrong and are no happier than some of the attendees. I'm sure they will address the problems from this year and unplanned for problems of a different type will crop up next time. Grin and bear it or the club shows will become private or worse, a thing of the past. Why does everyone become an expert after the fact? The show I attended this weekend was near perfect, will that success bring problems in the future, maybe, woun't know till it happens. I can bet the club is thinking about it.

This is not directed at anyone person, just some thought, and welcome constructive, well thought out comments!!
Should this become a ******* match, I would hope it gets deleted.

I think just about every show has it's ups and downs, happy times and not so cool times, we have all had our share, the longer you attend shows the more you learn. I can't say we will ever go back to a show that we were asked to leave, not because of anything that we did wrong, except ***ume our car would fit in, and someone else decided it didn't, don't hold any grudges, we just won't go back. I hold nothing against anyone, it is the only show that we have been invited to leave. So it goes.

Any show is what YOU make it, not your next door neighbor does. Before you go blasting think what you can do to remedy it the following year and follow thru. Next year WILL be different.

I totally agree with everything you have said here.

That's why I avoid the car show scene because there are always too many somebody's finding fault with someone elses ride, you should have done this or that is all wrong, just look at my billet mobile that I had built it is the real deal. I would rather see runs in the paint or stuff not lined up right and a inch of bondo that a guy built himself. I build my stuff to make me smile and if I get a kind word that is way cool too,and if a kid comes up wanting to check out my car I don't care if I am in hurry I will let em look and tell how stuff was done. The way I see it is those kids are our future rodders and I don't want them remembering that rude ***hole that sent em packin without a peek.;)

Very well stated. If I want to see a Billet show (High
dollar), I'll go. Can't afford that stuff anyway. So like he's said let me see the other stuff. That's where the greasy hands, hard work, no money, stuff is. And might I add that's where the most ingenious creations well be found. Just my 3 pennies

OK I am not to sure what show or shows you are relating to so here is my penny or 2 ...
I have to agree with " oldskooloutlaw" . I would go out of my way to look and enjoy the car or truck or whatever that someone that is not a professional did their self . Anyone with deep enough pockets can have a beautiful trailer queen but they bought it ! Big deal you just have more money to piss away than I do . When I go to a car show I look at ALL that is there , good or or really bad and I have seen some really bad one . But most of those are the ones that a guy working for $8 hour has built and is damn proud of it . He should be because he did it himself . I NEVER ask what color are you going to paint it . I always try to find something good in everyone I stop to see . Yes the high end ones are real "PRETTY" but I never talk to those people because they didn't even change the oil in it . All they due id clean and shin and if that's for you , that's fine but not for me . I would never want to go to a show that doesn't like my car because it is what a working stiff would have had back in the 1950's ! As long as it runs and my wife and I have fun at shows with it that is good with me . I really hate the ones that nit pic the car to death but then I always ask ," Where is yours ?" and most all the time they don't have ones or it's not here ******** . I love all cars and go to as many as I can afford to go to but only a few with my 55 Ford . It's in progress and sometime not to sure if the trans will make it . Mine will have no billet and a cheap *** primmer or semi-flat paint job . I like mine to run great first , then drive and sit well then the paint comes last ! I will always stop and talk with anyone that want to ask a question and I love the kids that ask them too ! I will make morre time with a younger one thatn an adult . I will even let a small one get in behind the wheel for a picture ! I have time for any who wants to talk !
Anyway I am not sure on the show but if they don't like me I don't come back . Now as for problems , that is live and nothing runs perfect so make the best of it and have fun . Now isn't that what it's all about , having fun with car Guys & Gals ?

your right in sayin that the organizers are just as pissed as the participants when something goes wrong. Actually we are more pissed because the participants dont know when most of the stuff goes wrong.
