I can understand your frustration, but don't let it get you down too bad. They're no fun if they're just kept in a garage. Idiots are around us no matter where we are.
Get that thing fixed, back on the road and start enjoying it again.
Show us some more pics of the rest of the car.

Yeah that ****s that no one owned up to it. There's a guy about 20 miles from me in the town I work in that has 3 Stude project cars on his car lot. I'll take a pic and/or get his # as he may have some spare parts. tnrotter

Damn that really ****s the big one . Those hit & run ***holes really get me just about as bad as the ones that steel **** ! Did you contact the law even though it won't help but never know . Someone else's car has a lot more damage than yours . I will keep my eyes open for the parts that I see you need as I look through all my books ! I know it doesn't help right now but don't ever let anyone spoil your love for old cars and driving them because of those ***holes ! Your 55 Studebaker is there to enjoy so get her fixed and drive her all over the place ! Isn't that the fun part about it ?

WOW! That kind of **** pisses me off! People need to own up to their f**k ups and this world would be a better place! I sure hope they get what they deserve, like four flats or rod stuck through oil pan, or...

A friend's "maid service" backed into the RR tail light of my 37 while I was on an over-night stop in Chattanooga a few years ago. Of course they denied it, but I knew better. But I didn't let it spoil the rest of my planned road trip. Insurance covered it NO problems when I got home. On the flip side, it was very re***uring that so many concerned folks at car shows later on down the road made mention of my little "axle-dent" - they just wanted to be sure I knew something had happened to my car before I drove away. Yes, I filed a police report. I got lots of stude parts cars, but I'd be dammed I have no spare 55 coupe tail-light parts.

Since somebody asked, below is a picture of the car right after I got it restored but before I put it on the road this summer.

Man that ****s big time. Sorry but I don't get the *****s that hit someone elses car and just ****** off. I hit a ladies car in a car park and left a note and phone number. She rang me that night, thanked me for leaving my details and said not to worry about it as it wasn't worth fixing. Appreciated her call. Hope whoever hit you gets theirs.

Well Michiganman, it must be a bad karma day for right rear quarters on blue cars

Here is my OT mild custom daily. It got smacked today at Noon...in my driveway ! ...and I saw who did it. It was my son's teenage girlfriend driving her parents car.

Man, I have a HUGE driveway/parking lot too; she tried doing a full turn and misjudged.

Here is my dilema. My son is on a week long fishing trip and I know he will call in a day or so. I hate to spoil his week if I tell him that his GF bashed my car and then took off. I don't even know why she was here. She got her drivers permit this summer and can barely see over the dash :D

Kind of bums me out, but I make mistakes daily;)

Had that happen to my 60 Checker
Some young yuppie girl tried to p*** a van
On the right at aprox 80 mph (estimated by the former circuit court judge in the car behind her)
Then to late realized oh gee there is a car parked there
Took two tow trucks to pry her Beemer vert out of my back seat
She was O.K. but the old Checker was GONE
Oh yah it was Blue also????

That car is way too cool to park, don't even think about it. What happened to you ****s but it happens to most of us sooner or later, hopefully later. Repair it and drive it. It sounds like you like it a lot and have a bunch of work in it so don't let whoever hit it have the power to take your joy away.

I believe that is a one year only item. I think th '53 and '54 parts are different. That said, the parts are out there. Check on the Studebaker Drivers Club Forum: http://www.studebakerdriversclub.com/

Also this link is to a pretty complete list of vendors, some of which might also be able to help: StudebakerVendors.com

Of course you may already be aware of these resources already.

Actions like this are really sad. I had the rear end of a '59 Lark hard top hit by a hit and run driver while it was parked on a quiet street in front of my house. Really a bummer.

Good luck with your parts search.
