Sorry about your loss, he sounded like a great guy.

Its also great that you have his life's story recorded. I wish my grandparents' stories got recorded; their kids never got around to pestering them to write them down. If you have elderly parents or grandparents bring a tape recorder to your next visit! You'll never know how much you'll miss your elders' stories until you no longer hear them.

    Hey Tiny-

My sympathies go out to you along with all the others, and to your family. I especially enjoyed reading what you posted because my parents and grandparents called Detroit home too, my grandparents are a cl***ic war story romance, and they lived in similar cir***stances... My grandpa was my hero, and this post reminded me of him. Thanks for posting this.

    My Prayers are with you-

Very sorry to hear your losses, as some might know mine has recently been diagnosed with cancer, and I am very doubtful that he will pull through. My prayers go out to you and your familly, I know they it is rough.

My Condolences on your loss. That generation of people is dissapearing quite rapidly and if people like yourself dont share stories and pics as you have it is lost to everyone so on behalf of myself thank you and my prayers and best wishes are with you and your family.

Not that it counts, because the loss of a loved one is forever, but...this thread is like 5-1/2 years old

My grandpa and I shared the same birthdays. He died 45 years ago and I still think of him regularly and miss him. Keep the memories and share them with your kids!
