Bonneville buick bump

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by BROCK ART STUDIO, Oct 12, 2009.

  1. Hey Folks ,

I was ridin high again ... in the big Buick at the Bonneville World Finals .
Bumped the XO/GCC record up to 134 plus , with a fast time of 136 plus on Thurday .
Ended up in impound twice , parked next to the Seth Thomas streamliner Wednesday and The Old Crow Lakester Friday .

Memories I'll cherrish for sure .

Very well done. I hope it came home is running condition. That's a lot of steel to be pushing around at 136. What kind of RPM do you turn it?

We took lots of photos of your awesome car and talked with you guys a little.

What i love the most about B'ville is the homebuilt cars with old engines.

  4. Jeff: You are truly livin' the dream...not only to compete at Bonneville but to set a record to boot...it doesn't get any better than that!!
Got any more pix to share?

  8. Thanks to all !
It is "livin the dream" out there on the salt .

    Rich ,
I changed out the 2.75 posi for a 3.10 open , bumped the timing from 21 to 26 and dropped octane to 100 .
Got her wound up to 5000 .
    Interestingly :
    4700 = 136.3 , 4900 = 133.8 , 5000 = 134.8
The 4700 run was early morning, back up record run, good air no wind . I figure tire slip ? on the others.

Congratulations on your record performance. It is always great to accomplish an improvement over your previous efforts.
It is nice to see your Buick in the record books.

And you still talk to us - how cool;)

  16. Hey Ryan ,

    Good Question !
Yes ... you feel like a fricken GLADIATOR at the end of 3 miles .

When you consider she's got a rigid mount dropped front axle and 1.5 " max of STIFF travel in the rear , it's a real challenge to run her down through .
    What a rush .
Beats any drug I've tried .

I think you should climb in and run it next August .

    Thanks ,

Congrats Jeff ! Well Ryan ? .... What better way to find out ....

  18. Don ,

Your considerate comments top all !

I am enjoying your 40's Hot Rod books ... as we speek .
You are an inspiration ... and a Land Speed race hero for me .
My goal is to top YOUR Buick I-8 / Cord speeds from the early 50's .

    God Speed ,

Congrats to you. I got a couple of photos of the Buick in impound this last August.

Too bad we never actually met. I would have loved to take more shots of the car. Maybe next year.
