Anybody know about converting a 1989 Chevy 5 speed getrag tranny behind a Chevy S/B into a '32 ford? I read about it somewhere but now can't find the article.

The g.e.t. rag tranny will bolt directly to a sbc...even if it came coupled to a 4.3 v-6, same bell housing, same flywheel...not sure what your asking here...what do you need to convert??

Is this the same tranny that BMW has been using? I thought those were pretty tough. I wouldn't put a bunch of HP to it though.

I had an 89 chevy pickup with one that had 250k on the clock and was still going strong when the body finally rusted away. It was behind a 305 and I beat the crap out of it, seemed like a good tranny to me. Don't know how well it would have survived if there was any horsepower in front of it. I don't know what other vehicles used this box but naturally in the truck version the gear spacing was pretty wide.
