Getting ready to french my headlights and was wondering if this 100.00 dollar kit will work or if I have to get the 279.00 one. http://www.thenightprowlers.com/NP-Headlights & Spots.htm The 100.00 dollar kit don't come with the buckets, retainer rings, adjuster screws, hold down springs, or rubber grommets. Do I need any of that or can I go without it? Thanks
what kinda car? you might be able to use all the stock stuff, weld on the stock rings, and mount the buckets from behind. But we need to know more about the car... pics too!!
he's right, and also depends on how you want the look if you want to weld the original rings or buy that kit and have the headlight have the push in look.
what car are you frenching lights into? what do you have as of now? Stock buckets? stock rings? All that stuff can tell you. You can make your own buckets
oh ya, if you wait long enough you can find a cheaper pair on ebay or on here post on the want ads...it would be a better deal.
i think its a 1952 mercury that has the headlight trim that has the "push back" light design. look on the hamb cl***ifieds or ebay.
I've used the $100 rings from night prowlers before. I like them, as matter of fact they are on my Caddy. If you don't need the buckets, theres no reason to buy the more expensive. If you do need the buckets you can find them cheaper than the $179 difference.
If you want them a little further back you could use the Merc ring's like was mentioned. They have a nice stainless inner bezel too and will give the look of being tunneled a little.. Also, you should be able to use your stock buckets, and mount them from the inside of the fender instead of the way they were designed. Trim them to fit flush against the inside of the flange and flip the clips so they can be screwed in from behind. One of the thing's i like about the Merc rings is the stainless inner trim can be removed for adjusting. Kind of makes thing's a little easier.. I used original Merc rings on my 53 Chevy with the stock buckets just like i described. I bought my rings at a swap meet for 50 bucks of something, and aside from materials have nothing more invested in frenching them.. Best of luck. Tony
There's one of those kit deals for frenching lights that is just ugly as all get out on the car, too, you're better off with the Merc rings for overall appearance's sake.
ya hes right, i brought a pair for 20 bucks just because they were cheap, i still have them and would put them to use some day. i wasnt sure of the year but 1952 might be it.
Just looked on the shelves in my garage and I have both buckets along with everything to mount it. I also have the bezels but I'm going to try and look for the 52 merc ones. Thanks guys.
