63 Studebaker 289 in a Model A pickup. 20-25psi oil pressure on a good day Take a look at #8 rod bearing. 3 Rod bearings are wasted, gouged the crank too. Luckly the rest of THEM were there to help me pull the motor last night.
Are you sure low oil pressure was your only problem?!? What about the umpteen nationwide road trips, burn outs at the flats, and letting Monkey drive your truck??? You gotta love your THEM!ers. Reverend Jake
Maybe this is a chicken and the egg question - do you think your low oil pressure was caused by worn bearings?
Hey, it wasn't me man!!! If anything, I wore out the brakes! Right Tyler! Man brother, that's kinda scary. Let me know if I can do anything. later, monk

Jeez man, Whatta bummer! If it makes you feel any better... I was working in the shop yesterday, had to swap spots where the cars were sitting so her shop hog wouldn't eat up the drive-in portion. Not a damn thing I own would start, The brand new Optima in the 41 is now totally shit and the battery in hers dumped as well. I got to push both of those cars around, didn't think I would get hers back in the shop. Then, I made a hitch for the trailer on the lawnmower, pulled the trailer out and the damn tractor ran out of gas. I got to push both of those back in too. Oh well, after typing all that, yours sucks worse. I know you though, that sucker will be doing hot laps this weekend won't it?
[ QUOTE ] Maybe this is a chicken and the egg question - do you think your low oil pressure was caused by worn bearings? [/ QUOTE ] Chickens are for dinner, eggs are for breakfast I think bearings started to wear first, I replaced all the oil pump parts and relief valve before I left for Paso and couldn't get the psi back. I look at it as an opportuntiy to grind a better cam, new bearings all around to get my 80psi. back, and make it good for another couple miles. Plus I can send some stuff to the chrome shop and repaint before putting it all back together. Now I hope I can find undersized bearings or Drgnwgn289 can come up with an extra 289 crank. The down side to all this is my next project gets pushed out for another couple months and $$$, and I'm out of a car for the winter. Mark, can I ride with you???
[ QUOTE ] Plus I can send some stuff to the chrome shop and repaint before putting it all back together. [/ QUOTE ] Don't lose the radiant magenta!
Dude that does suck! On the brighter side though, perhaps this will allow me the additional time I need to get the Olds back on the road first, before you get the S2D done.

[ QUOTE ] lets see the main bearings.....B?]> Im curious to see the cam bearings and rings too [/ QUOTE ] Honest and MarkX would have had the motor completley torn apart if I had let them. I'm still in a bit of denial, probably take the rest of it apart this weekend. As for you Holidazed, I'll still beat you, but I don't have a mini hot rodder room to build either.
Glad it didn't do it on the road. I know you never drive it far from the house. There's an old man up here that only drives Stoods, maybe he has/knows of some parts. Ill keep my eyes peeled for him. Stevan
