Buy the new book on him, it's expensive, $75, but worth every penny. If you like bikes, you will flip your lid. I read the book in two days and it's thick, I couldn't put it down, my arms hurt.

    Buy the book, it's amazing.

I started seein the energy drink over a year ago and have seen it in every truckstop convenience store and liqour store from Teaneck to Tucumcari and Ventura to Valparaiso. It was made by the guys that started rockstar after they sold Rockstar to Coke they started Von Dutch energy says Rockstar beverages on the can kinda tastes like a cross bewtween monster and rockstar.

In the end He wasnt racist he hated everybody equal.
What they will prolly come up with next is cologne or perfume if they haven't already man I wouldn't wanna smell like that.

I can safely say my Von Dutch wearing son knows damn well who is. Our side of the family told him he would be banned from wearing it if he couldn't recite a few facts about the man behind the logo. LOL

But 1 kid out of hundreds of thousands still essentially amounts to 0%.

There is at least three parts to Dutch, "The Man", "The Legend", and the "Marketing" (that is going on that he had nothing to do with),.... as with a lot of guy's that are held in high esteem in Hot Rodding,... Respect and embrace the Legend, as the Man might have fallen short of your expectations, and the marketing is just that so we should let it go.

I think Kirk will agree that Dutch was a very private person that was actually uncomfortable with his celebrity status, and actually felt a little entrapped by it. ( check out some of his art work, some of it is disturbing but sometimes mirrors this) with all this said, embrace and respect the Legend, as the Man had a very, very talented but troubled soul.

So long Dutch, this is the last word I will ever post about you. DJS

Some of the girls at school wear this crap. I confront them about and they get all defensive and try to explain how it's just a shirt. Fact is it's not just a shirt. Von Dutch is legend not some gay fashion designer. If it wasn't for him us pinstripers wouldn't have his great style to study. My freshman year in highschool i was carrying a Von Dutch book around. people thought it was about clothes.Sad thing is they don't care, they just wear what's "cool".

Does anyone know were i can get one of those shirts with Kenneth Howard printed in the von dutch style logo?

Im gonna jump in where i usually dont, why is it that eveyone talks about the crap Dutch would hate (IE. the clothes etc) instead of paying homage to the man & his art, to the person "WE" as pinstripers, hot rodder & gear heads know as Von Dutch and not what became of his tade mark. why must eveyone beat a dead yuppie to death even further????? Just say Ya, Dutch was cool. Loved the bunny face thing he did and move on. Im starting to think alot of people on this board dont know much about what he was about. Go ahead rip me a new ass! I can take it

The best story I heard about him was a time he was laying down a long straight pinstripe. The man telling the story is not one to bulls**t about these things, but he said he did the whole stripe without even looking, with his head back swigging a beer. Just held his hand down by his knee and walked the length of the car.

To me that tells me a few things: 1) he has perfect balance 2) he's been painting signs way too long (smile).

Anyway, he lived, he died, and there's a lot of people out there just as good today. Employ them, or try to learn what they know.

I feel like you dont really know a person till you meet them. I could read all the books about it, but i still wouldnt feel like I get it completely. I read a lot of posts on here about this subject, because most of the people my age are the ones wearing the clothes, and i want to seperate myself from that crowd. So I try to educate myself. But I dont know how much is true. I know a few hot rod guys that are loners, hermits, ass holes, and dont give a shit about anyone else. But they can be the best people you know too. I wish I would have been interrested in hot rods when guys like that were still alive. I would have like to have met Ed Roth too. Even so, there are guys who are alive now that I would like to meet, and never will. I've met one guy who I was pretty excited about. I think i got ot there. sorry.

Sorry to resurrect and old thread but just wanted to share this quick story...

Was putting gas on the old grocery grabber with the wife and kids. The kids holler out "Dad! Look at the side car on that motorcycle..." The bike was just some 80s-ish Kawi, Honda or Yamaha (not sure). But the side car made out of bare Aluminum with rivets and a Flying Tiger shark mouth painted on the front of it. I thought cool. Then I pulled around the back of it and seen the "Kenneth Howard Hates You" sticker on the back of it. I started laughing and then had to tell them who he was and why it may say that.

Do they still make the stickers?

    Later.

    RIP Kenneth Howard.

  23. My wifes friend who goes to this famous clothing design school in Los Angeles was wearing a von dutch hat the other day. I asked if she knew who Von Dutch was....she said with a very snobby tone... "who the designer" . I immediatley punched her in the neck.
