i need a rear end pinion yolk or flange, heard it called both things, for a 53 ford customline. none of my local guys can find one. its the part that connects the rear end to the driveshaft. mine snapped in half.

  8. None of the umpteen old Ford parts vendors can help? Snyders? Anyone else with an ad in say Hemmings Motor News?

It probably will be a bear to find a new one, I had to replace the same thing on a late model daily and the only place who had one was the dealership.

you can try CTC Auto Ranch in Denton, Tx. the guy is sometimes a little pricey, but he knows his stuff and has over 2,000 cars there.

I think it's time to seriously think about that rear end swap. Several good 8" rears out at pull-a part right now. If you need help swapping the rear let me know. I take it we probably won't be seeing your car at the HAMB & eggs Saturday but man, you got to have it running for the Rumble on the 24th, I need a rematch!

A thought. Does anyone know if there is any chance a yoke off of a 57 Ranchero 9" would be the same? I know it has that funky little u-joint so maybe, anyone have a Hollinder's handy? If it would I'd have a yoke for you.

i dont know the rear is actually called, but it turns out the parts i couldnt find actually came with the new universal joint. antique auto supply in texas had the yoke, and evidentally a ton of parts for my car. thanks for everyones help. hopefully the ford will be running by tomorrow night

  19. I did a 53 ford wagon and did a engine swap and used a 53 lincoln yoke on it
if you have any inclination for a different u joint as in a engine swap

That rear axle is a Ford's own, a bit frail at that. Ujoint is a "Mechanic's" style as I recall.

throw in a 8" maverick or granada rearend, cheap and all over the place. toyota truck rearends are 5 on 4.5 and cheap.
