Ok. Well here it goes. I have gotten into a dillemma with sending a guy some parts. I have two 53 desoto bumpers that a man in Spain bought from me last week. We have only been in contact through emails because of the different languages, and even through email the communication is very poor. I called the local UPS store when I had the bumpers off and gave them the deminsions. They estimated to me that it would take between 250 and 300 bucks to send them. So I relayed the message to the guy and he was fine with it. He paid me the amount for the parts and for shipping through Paypal and did his part. Now its time to ship the bumpers and the same UPS store is telling me it is going to cost well over $1000.00 to send them. What the hell do I do??
Is there another cheaper way of sending them? or what would you guys do in this situation. I have not told the guy who bought the bumpers yet because I want to avoid getting him worried about this.

    any help is appreciated. thanks

Try DHL,,and I have had the happen UPS stores ****!

what happens is if the box is 'oversized" they double or triple the est. weight

bumpers would def. fall in the oversized catagory

Though no matter how you slice it doubt you'll get it done for $300

If DHL wont/cant do it for the price, try FedEx ground, or a freight forwarding company.

  6. Most of the American car hobbyists in Europe, Australia, etc. work with freight forwarders. When I sell overseas I tell the customer that I will arrange shipping from my residence to any address in the US that they specify and that they are responsible from there.

My brother lives in Spain. The last care package we sent, about 1 cubic foot, cost $60 via the post office.

Yeah, try either DHL, FedEx or USPS, both are likely less $$$ than the others. Working for the Army, many of the contractors I work with send stuff via DHL to units over in the sandbox cuz they're usually the best bargain and provide good service even to that area. But I have no idea what a guesstimate would be, you'd probably have to take the packaged items to them for an accurate price.
