Guys: Another Edmonton fellow Thames owner just called me from Valejo, he just drove down to make a deal on another project car. He had made calls before driving down, and u-haul quoted him around $300.00 to rent a trailer. Well, he gets down to CA, and now the story/rules have changed, and it's going to be over 2K:eek: ( u-haul changing the rules...I'm not shocked)

So, does anyone know of other CO's that rent trailers, or a Transport CO. with reasonable rates??
He's put himself in a bad spot.....and it's gonna take some greenbacks to get out of it:mad:

If you have any leads, could you please e-mail them to me @
    thamesdfo-at-yahoo.ca (**change -at- to @)

    Thanks in Advance!

No matter what you are hauling, it's always a 1985 Toyota Camry. It works every time.

for 2K he can BUY a trailer and sell it slightly used when he gets home and only take a minor hit, not that he wants to come out his pocket 2K, but still, c'mon Uhaul.

  8. Buy the trailer.

You should be able to find one sold in California that's built in Missouri.

A tandem axle 16' wooden floor with brakes should go out the door for less than $2000.

    And probably less.

transport to state line,,pick a up a CA trailer and go.. and still you haul rents there trailers buy the day..and one way as well as round trip,,Unless there is a border issue

and buying a trailer you know nothing about to make the trip could make the whole thing a real nightmare ,,if teh trailer fails

  11. A new one should do the trick.

I've seen more U-haul trailers broken down in the desert than privately owned ones.

Penske and Ryder usually have good rental stuff.

An auto hauler with UHaul is about $60 a day give or take the $8 insurance. Just did it this past week. Curious to know what he asked them for?

    Spook: Got your e-mail, THANKS!

Adrian: I'm almost 2000 miles away, so I have no idea what the deal is.....but the quote before he left was around $300.00, but when he showed up to collect the trailer, all of a sudden they want BIG $$. I wish we had more time on the phone or him to explain it, but he was in a rush, and I was on company time:)
Any ways, I will call him shortly to see what is going on, and if he has a solution yet........

    Thanks All!!

OK: So, I guess that when bruce called, the quote was a "day rate" price.....but when he got there, they tell him it's a "One Way" rental, which is totally different rates:(
Anyways, he is all loaded up, and on the way, but will drop the You-Haul trailer in Great Falls. (thus avoiding the outrageous fees).
I called a fellow I know there, and Bruce will be able to leave the car there briefly untill he returns to bring it the rest of the way up through the Border crossing @ Sweetgrass, MT, and on home:)

    Thanks for everything!
