I have a chance to pick up a 1960 DeSoto four door which I believe is an Adventurer?

It has buckets in the front with a small jump type seat in the middle. Was this a trim option? All the pics I can find on the net are of a bench seat with a taller driver side than p***enger side but it's a full seat.

This car is mostly complete just missing the radiator. I can buy it pretty cheap but the driver tail light is busted and probably hard to find. It would make great fodder for a custom.

Any help is appreciated and pics are better!

    Thanks HAMB.

Get it. If its reasonable then you can flip it of fix it. The taillight issue is manageable or customizable. But, only if ya got it.

I have no idea on the interior but it's always cool being the only one in town.

From your description it sounds like it has the swivel seat option. When a front door was opened the seat would swivel out for ease of entry... you get in and rotate the seat in and shut the door.

Adventurer's had a unique taillight with three little chrome fins. I think the cheaper Fireflite used the same taillight as the '60 Chrysler.

The swivel seats look a lot like the standard bench seats. If it looks like a more traditional bucket, it was probably added later. As for the tail lights...Fireflite and Adventurer used the same light and '60 Chrysler tail lights are a bit different, but fit without any mods. New '60 DeSoto Tail lights are being made by a guy in Australia.

So...did you buy the car? If not, let us know about it, I love '60 DeSotos.

The 60 Desoto tail lights are just a bit wider than the Chrysler at the base. They will interchange, but the base on the body is different. I miss mine.-MIKE:cool:

  9. The tail light lenses are also now made in Sweden. The guy in Australia has given people a LOT of grief with their orders. Equal quality in Sweden and far quicker service. I would never order from the Aussie again personally.
