OT: Visiting Dallas, what to do?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 345window, Oct 14, 2009.

  1. I'll be in Dallas on Nov 6 and 7 and have all day to goof off.
Any traditional HR things going on, can you recommend any gotta see shops? Sachse looks like to far to travel. Apparently there is a hot rod cruise on saturday nights at Strokers - worth it? Not much else came up on my search.

I'm posting something on the other board for the sicle side but if you have any recommendations for bike shops (not that long bike fat tire stuff) I would appreciate that also. Is Rick Failess place close by? Is that Bikerfest thing a bunch of drunk wanna be's on stockers or is it supposed to bring in some of the real thing?
    Thanks!

There's a place called Motorcars limited on Harry Hines that has plenty of old stuff to look at.

If you're into airplanes, The cavanaugh museum in addison is really good. Very good collection of WW2 bombers and fighters, and the best part is most fo them actually fly. It's at the Addison Airport, so ifthe weathers good ,you might get a chance to see some of them fly.

Also on that weekend is the Ballpark swap meet in arlington.

Saturday night Keller's Hamburger joint in Dallas has a cruise...but in November depending on the weather it may be a little slow.

I have not looked on the calendar but I am sure Revhead is right on his dates and the Ballpark Swapmeet is usually not to be missed.
Since you are from out of town I guess you gotta go to Strokers to say you have been but a much cooler place is The Old Bike Shop on Empire Central just around the corner from Motorcars. All three of those are within 3 miles of each other.
Saturday nite at Kellers Drive-In on Northwest Hiway is the best cruise scene.
If there is anyway to bump your trip a week, Pistons and Paint is Nov. 14th and that is as good as it gets anywhere.

  8. Warbirds, hotrods, swap meets, and sicles...this may work out better than I thought. Thanks, all great sugggestions...except the part where I drive out to Georgia - I gotta do that though and check out Hank Young and Josh Mills.....but thats another thread.

    Appreciate the quick feedback!

  9. Go down to Dealey Plaza and the 6th floor museum.
