Great shots! Liked both the salt pics and the Enola Gay hanger. Given its history, it is too bad that someone (maybe the Air Force) is not interested in restoring it.

    Great shots inside the hanger.
I always had trouble working in B/W photography.

    wow! soooooo good.

  7. Every shot of the cars and the salt draws me ever closer. I have never been but I hope 2010 is my year ,to hear that sweet sound of full tilt flatties at wide open song.
Those pictures are wonderful and I would bet still don't show the beauty of the place.

I don't know if the Air Force owns it anymore, but it is definitely owned by some government entity since it is still an airport.

Most of that base is in serious decay now. A few years back I wandered around one freezing winters day and shot a lot of stuff in the barracks and other buildings. Many of the Wendover locals run shop's, business's and even live in some of the older buildings. One of the old locals showed me around the place a few years ago, He didn't mind at all I was taking pictures and even showed me his shop. Must of been stir crazy, it was in the middle of winter and cooooold!

Great photos, Michael! Thanks for posting them and it was good to meet you during Speed Week.

    haha.. Noticed that!
The Spirit of San Diego Roadster has a ton of history behind it and it was really cool hanging out with and getting to know the guys that run it.

I remember asking to take photos of your car, you treated me like shit and then bragged to your buddies about how you told off some photographer. I know this because we have some mutual acquaintances. Small world ain't it?

    Awesome pics there! :)

Do you know if there's any accreditation available/required at Bonneville? Or does everyone get the same access anyway? (I'm guessing going beyond the start line is probably a huge no-no anyway...)
