I don't know **** about distributors, but when I found this it looked like some cool old speed equipment so I bought it. Now I'm trying to figure out what it fits. It's a model ZC476HP but I can't find any place to look for that number. Anyone recognize it? I thought the writing on the cap was pretty neat.
The cap is real nice, the whole thing is complete, I just don't know what it came from. It was sitting inside a '60 Galaxie wagon, but I don't think it was off of that car. Anyone have any ideas, even process of elimination if you know what it doesn't fit? I'm not sure how to figure it out.
My GMC and I guess Chevy sixes had that blade drive for the oil pump. Looks right to me but it has been a long time.
Tom about 40 + years ago I used to work on hospital generators. The generators war for lighting for power failure. The generators had GM six-cylinder engines in them. And them dual point Mallory distributor was used in the engines at that time. Some of the real early generators had four-cylinder jeep engines in them with the same Mallory ignition only for four-cylinder. I hope this helps Tony
They must interchange thru all the Chevs and early GMC's. The HEI we run in our 270 GMC came out of a 250 GM six. I have also exchanged early dipper distributors into GMC's. Must be pretty standard fitting. Cool distributor.
Shot a PM to GMC BUBBA he is the dizzy master.. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=419
