I am ***uming these blocks will work since the block is 1 3/4" wide like the leaf springs. Can someone confirm?? Any tips on installing them? I have never done it before. Josh, I installed a set of 3" blocks on my 48. They are 1 3/4" wide. They were "early car" lowering blocks I ordered from Hot Rod and Custom Supply, who I don't think are still in business. Anyway those should fit fine. When I did mine I put the rear of the car up on stands. I figured it was easier to do both sides at once. That way once I got the old u-bolts undone, I could put a jack under the differential and jack up the rear-end to put the blocks in.
Some people have reported receiving inadequate U-bolts with some lowering block kits. I don't know what brands or sources they used, so yours might be just fine. But if they do seem too weak, you can usually find very heavy-duty U-bolts in many sizes at farm and tractor supply stores.
