A cl***ic and a rope starter to boot. Now all you need to do is ditch the lawn mower muffler and add a foot of old water pipe in it's place for the cl***ic sound. Screws right in if I remember correctly.
Last weekend at the Kings Speedway they had a mini bike race on the inside dirt track. What a great show!!! Made me wanna comb craigslist and ****** one up. The crew that ran in Hanford was from San Fernando I believe... Maybe if we can get enough of us central valley guys together we can run there too....???
I wanted to go watch that one, just too sick this weekend. By the way, here is the latest video on the mini bike. Running with a strait pipe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=987C9_o8j58
Went to Hanford saturday as part of my "official "duties for USAC. We had the Ford Focus midgets on the big track and the JR focus on the 1/5 mile. We pulled in the gate @ 12:30 and the minibike drags were just finishing up. Some seriously FAST minis !. Later on I had a chance to talk to and check out some of the oval racers. Looks to be a great group of people having WAY TOO MUCH FUN ! Couple of the guys kept trying to get me to tech their rides..Good thing USAC sanctions cars and not mini's !! Dave
Great minds think alike . Sounds like a mini-bike should now. Two words of advice.... WEAR SHORTS .You have floppy pants leg catchers on BOTH sides. 50 years later I still have the scars on the back of my foot from kicking at a dog that was chasing me and drew my foot back right into the notches for the rope start THAT SMARTS
I know in the rules you have to wear long pants but I will prolly rubber band the legs and it is also set up so the engine is way back from were the foot pegs will be. Talk about scars, I have them on my knuckels and my shoulder from when I ate a fresh gravel road when I was 8 after reaching up to grab my hat that was about to blow off while ridding a mini bike with no rake to the forks. Fortunately I only have one little scar on my lower lip, when it happened the whole left side of my face was hamburger (I remember the hour long ride home in Dads Buick like it was yesterday). Had to eat nothing but soup for weeks.
Just got it together tonight, still needs a brake cable but it is pretty much done. I think it turned out pretty much how I invisioned it when I drew it out full size on a sheet of cardboard , with all the black and red I thought of calling it the "DeathMobile" but I think that one was taken. I'll have a video of the complete build on YouTube soon, sounds good with the strait pipe and even shoots out a two or three inch flame when reved up. See you guys on the tenth!
COOL BEANs. Really like the professionals using the push with both feet off the line technique. Was that dean Lowe on the killer mini motorcycle? The memories of a briggs and stratton "On the pipe" bring back............
Hi Toymaker, Well buddy,A minibike, also recently known as a mini moto or pocketbike, is a miniature motorcycle. Most traditional minibikes use a four stroke engine to turn the rear wheel via a chain. Small cheap gasoline engines like ones produced for yard equipment are most often used, though most designs require a horizontal crankshaft engine. This means that typical walk behind mowers, which use vertical crank engines, cannot be used. Some models use a two stroke engine, and DSCF0813electric-powered models are also available. A 2-stroke engine usually creates a louder, higher frequency noise than a typical four-stroke engine, this is because a two-stroke engine has a power stroke, and subsequent exhaust pulse for every rotation of the crankshaft, while a four-stroke has a power stroke, and an exhaust pulse every other rotation of the crankshaft. In effect, two-strokes sound as if they are operating at double the speed of a four-stroke engine. Also, an improperly tuned two-stroke often releases unburnt fuel, and thick blue smoke out exhaust during normal operation, these features, along with a minibike's small size, mean that minibikes are rarely street-legal but are legal on all gr***ed non privately owned areas. Thanks
It was my brother Jack. I'm the builder/tuner, he's the rider. I used to ride it some, but can't fold my self up enough anymore to get on it.
Cool the best part about having a brother drive is he gets the blame IF things go wrong and you get the credit as builder when things go right
hey just found this thread! too bad im so far away... been having trouble finding mini bike networks. went to the hunnert 2 years ago with this bike, and they looked at me like im nuts... thought they were popular? , built this one once when i was 10-12 years old, and then re-did it about 8 years ago. custom paint, gusseted frame, custom seat, raptor racing go-kart motor, does 45mph.
Looks good but is your air cleaner melting?????? Looks like it has met with the wicked witch of the west. Does it spin that mini slick?
If you guys do this again next year I will probably have a couple of bikes ready. It looked like most where banana bikes, but are other styles allowed? I have this one right now that needs to be finished. I also have a bar stool racer.
lol..no the air cleaner isnt melting, i had to lightly"crush" it to the side to clear the frame. and yes i do water box burnouts all the time with it. cant realy spin it on dry ground with me on it, put it does pull hella wheelies... its a combination of a couple different models, can anyone spot them?
Here's my Nephews in a wheels up match race! Max Abbey had the Bike to beat, and won the Torque Convertor Cl***! Looks like he is squaring off against Harleybob. I can't find a TECH card on the winner of the Modified category........help Kleet. Jarred Mullis had the stock Mini to beat and Don Gomes of the West Side Auto Club took he cosolation award with his Mini that sported a Clinton 2 Stroke, a Mini his Dad built in the 50's. but I can't find a photos of either. More Minis at Eagle Field!
