I just picked up a 65 M100. I couldn't resist it. Its in fair shape. I got it for $1500.00. The old 240 six still runs out OK. But it will need some TLC and some Cash to get her to where I want. It will hafta wait. I'm about 3/4 of the way threw my 64 F100. and my 56 Club coupe needs a refresh. I will post pictures, but I'm new here and I have some learnin to do.

There once was a snowman who waited at the side of the road all day for the snowblower to come along.
Rick Mercer was a reporter before he became the current Canadian president. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEOmTYcb7PE&feature=related
I worked at Downsview Military base where they developed the G-suit during WWII. They have a centrifuge there and the entire place is all solid wood panelled, very cool. They have cartoons on the wall dating from that era designed for the airman to read about the proper maintenence of the suits. The suits were filled with potable water that was to be used to keep them hydrated in case they were marooned or adrift at sea after a ditching. They built ASDIC (SONAR) units in Casa Loma's Stables and had a secret under ground entrance into it back then too. Neat ****
As much as I hear this about the political side of the ARROW's demise the real killer was the fact that the belief at the time was that ICBM's would make the bomber obsolete so that the interceptor role invisioned for the ARROW was also obsolete or about to be. Hindsight has shown that the basic policy of always having the bomber at the ready ( "the bomber will always get through") made this a somewhat short sighted policy. What is not mentioned is many companies grew from the CF-104 that was built here afterwards. Litton was one and they have made few hi tech things like laser gyros, HUD's, patriot guidance systems just to name a few. It was lucky for NASA that so many aeronautic engineers were available after Sputnik was launched. Or going to the moon in a decade would have been a pipe dream.
I see some really cool Avro Arrow stuff at the auction I go to most Friday nights. I've seen on a few occ***ions tubes full of diffferent drafting do***ents with Avro space frame layouts, tail sections, wings, etc. Basically all the design drawings. They would look really cool in a big frame on a wall. These are standard sized drawings about 48" x 36". One old fart keeps outbidding me all the time. I asked him for one page that shows the internal support frame and he walked away like I wasn't there.
Off Topic but does anyone have pics of them cool old late '50s Mopars from Canada, the ones with the mis-matched front clips?
The mercury trucks had mercury engines. I have a 50 truck engine with a 4" crank in pieces. I was told by a friend that the blocks where cast in Canada and racers south of the boarder would come up to buy new blocks from dealers as they where superior castings. This old timer grew up in Maryland in the late forties. I think flatheads where used one extra year up here, 1954. I have a 52 sports coupe Pontiac that has a pontiac dash, chrome racing stripe trim, grilland a flathead 6 and chevy tail lights. Kinda like a factory custom.
The heavy set guy there is a buddy, a Canadian. He's probably explaining to the other guy all about the '32 Merc trucks haha. Bill is a great story-teller.
So 130 posts and only one productive answer, thanks mr lancaster, guess this must be what happens when Canadians get ahold of a thread.... [/QUOTE] Or what happens when an American asks a question that cries out for anything but a sensible answer?
Budd, thanks for that postings --- here's Part II with the Mopars and Part III GM. Good stuff! http://www.wheels.ca/article/25391 http://www.wheels.ca/article/24904
Thanks for the pictures! I found some online too. Sorry if this was said before but were there Mercury "Rancheros"?
