I'd be all over that place if I lived out there. Like someone else said, probably lots of critters living in there though.

:D Unbelievable what they use to do with old cars in the day, it was a way of shoring up a bank in a river. That is some beautiful country and cool tin photo's, I wonder how much can be saved out of that pile.
I pulled a '37 Ford from a river bank everything was shot expect the main body. Sure would love to see pictures of the Hemi being pulled out of the gorge.

Is it just me, or does that body on top of the pile look like its been staged to be plucked out of there? Theres no way it bounced down a cliff wall and then landed like that.

  11. Man! Thank You So Much for posting those photos! I would love to know where that is exactly and take a hike down there. GPS coords would be rippin!

  12. I used to see stuff like this all the time in the Deadwood/Lead area of South Dakota. Usually it was a combination of old car wrecks and a dump site. You saw plenty of stuff you'd like to "take a part out of" . . . except you needed a damn helicopter to even consider it. I never really saw anything that was really worth much . . just piles of beat up sheet metal that nobody could get to. All of it ended up going to the car crushers . . . probably where most of it deserved to go. Still . . . was fun to walk down through and ponder if only each car could tell it's story . . .

  14. Far out ,Beautiful country. Thanks for sharing.

  15. There used to be a place like that near here in Little River Canyon.People would steal cars back in the 60s and run them off the cliff. It was covered in junk and cars for many years. The state somehow got funding and got army helicopters to help get the cars out a few years ago. From the videos on the news it looks like some old cars dating back to the 40s were down there.I am sure there was some valuable stuff down there as I remember hearing kids talk when I was in high school about people having their GTOs,Impalas and other muscle cars stolen and then dumped over the side.

yes milkweed, you are the one who turned me on to this place. You were not kidding about the hike. I would have loved to have seen you getting stuff out. Must have been quite a chore. Back to the top for the evening crew.

I think you may have found a pot of gold, or at least a treasure hunt. Very sad to see.

Pic #67 shows a car upside down in the middle of the picture, still has some paint on the rear fender and you can see the tailight. Is that the remains of a Woody? Kinda reminds me of a Chrysler Town and Country.
Great pics by the way. Love this kinda stuff. I found a stash that I'm building a shop for to bring home. Some look like this, others the body looks just fine.
