Is the hood ornament on a 51 and 52 Hornet the exact same thing? Need an expent on this one... Thanks in advance.
If you have any more questions on hudsons , get in touch with axle from the shifters, and have him ask his fellow club member "hudson Joe" , he is a hudson freak , and I am pretty shure he can answer your questions.
Would happen to know where I can pick up a '51 Hornet hood ornament? PM me if you have any leads, I would appreciate it... jay
VERY nice guys that run this place too. We all call it the Hudson Museum but I guess that's not it's offical name. http://www.ypsiautoheritage.org/
I got a 52 but not what you want. Did you become a restorer or what?? I thought you would shave it off-fill the holes! Dave Hitch
Come on studhud, you should have known Doc Hudson needed one! Denise- Thanks for the Ypsi Museum Folks- They had one! All set folks...
I was going to suggest Bill Albright in Fontana.See link below from Hudson Car Club. I was shocked to see that Bill p***ed away just a week ago.He had a m***ive collection of Hudson cars and parts. http://www.hudsonclub.org/
Bill had every hudson you could think. He told me he wanted to restore all the hudsons in the world. No joke. Every morning when I would go to work at the twin h ranch i would have to unlock the br*** padlock which bared the hudson logo on it, it was a padlock from the hudson factory.I can still smell the br*** of the lock in my memory.I was almost 17 years old when I started working for Bill Albright.when you entered the shop it was like going back to 1955.The shop was an old lumber yard from the 40's.You could smell solvent and rubber from all of the cars in the shop.and hear a radio playing inthe back ground,an am station playing long lost hits like marty robbins, and hank snow and some times a little buck owens if you're lucky. He would make a list of the things for me to do and i would fullfill them the best that i could. If i had to pull an engine, sand blast parts, trim trees, mow lawns, mount tires whatever he told me to do i would do it.As the years went by I learned how to do full concourse restorations and alot of fabricating and painting .I learned alot from Bill and I am very thankfull for it.He taught me alot about common sense and building cars and saving money. He told me it's not how much you make it's how much you spend.I could write a novel about working with bill and I may one day .But I would just like to say he was a good man and he was always there for me good or bad and I am gonna miss those days. R.I.P. Bill Albright
HudsonJoe, you're a man with a good heart. Sounds as though you got way more than a pay envelope from Bill, friend!
I have know Bill since I joined the HET club,30 yrs ago,and he will be missed....he would always make time to talk Hudsons...I am glad to see lots of Hudson fans on the HAMB..the HET club has been changing over the years, they even have a sub-club for modifed cars, which would not even been talked about years ago.Sorry to hijack your thread..by the way,I have a all stock 49 Hudson Commodore,6 cyl with overdrive. thanks Mench
So sorry to hear about Bill. Never met him,but I don't think you could own a Hudson and not know of him. I too have a 49 Commodore with a later Twin-H Hornet motor. What a runner!
Bill was a great guy! I communicated with him a couple of times about Hudson questions, and he was always more than helpful and encouraging. It's a big loss to the Hudson community.
It's listed as for a Pacemaker, don't know if that and Hornet are alike.............. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1951...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item439757dde2
Bill was a great man. My first time going to his place was on the way back from going to Disneyland at the age of 10. Needless to say the Twin H Ranch was way more memorable to me. Seeing his motorhome at a meet with his wife and dog was always a pleasure. He will be truely missed by all that knew him. His lasting legacy could be the Albright award for a newly restored Hudson that they give out.
Sounds like you had the 17 year olds dream job Joe,sorry for your loss. He will be talking the good old Hudson days with Teague, Thomas,Flock,Smokey etc. up in the Twin H Ranch above. I like the advice he gave you about how much you spend not what you earn, a valuable quote and so true.
I think allot of you Hudson guys probably know Jim Harmon in Banks Oregon, I did not get to meet him when NONAME took me to his Hudson shop/store a few weeks ago , WOW what a collection of Hudson's (even a 53 or 54 ? hornet PU) his helper gave me the grand tour and his collection is awesome if you need parts or answer's I would call him (better not wait to long, I hear he is also sick, hopefully he gets better) The phone # is on his card so I awesome its OK to give it out here. 503-324-7041 edsel
