I realize this is a good-job, feel-good kinda thread, and you did do good, but I just have to wonder why that 1917 Toruing went for 4500.00 and especially the 1926 for 3900.00! These are barely worth 20 grand in show shape (maybe a bit more in concours shape....).
    What do you guys think?

Congrats! Really nice doors, and aside from the rear, (which isn't too bad) the body looks amazingly straight! Gonna make a cool hot rod. Good luck.

One guy bought everything except the coupe and the one I got...4 cars in total. He must have deep pockets and very little sense, he was bidding like a mad man. He was a bit of an ***hole, too. Very unfriendly when I tried to talk to him.

The coupe for $3900 was quite steep in my opinion, although it was pretty much rust-free. I saw no rot in the body at all. The guy who bought it buys up old cars at auctions for a hobby/business, then strips them and sells them in pieces on Ebay. Apparently he does quite well doing that. I only met him today, but I know his wife from the post office in town. He may be keeping the coupe though, I know they're building a chopped one.

Exactly what I was thinking, they don't have the value the '26 has. $500 is a great price anywhere for a tub that nice. The inside of the doors will tell you for sure about the year. '27s have door latches like an early model A.

Most 1917 T's get converted to 1915's becaues they are worth more money that way. Still is a lot of money for a starter kit. All the door info is correct, the 1926 should have aluminum door sill plates too. :)

Their selling prices may have got run up in bidding wars by guys who belong to the more money than sense club. You never can tell what something will go for if two or three guys decide that they want it bad enough. I've seen that happen several times around here. I was going to bid on a car at a police auction for the engine (as a rebuilder) and some guys starting bid was more than I intended to pay for the whole car. I actually think he was buying his own car back at the auction.

I had a good friend get burned because a shill standing beside her convinced her to bid a 62 Ranchero up way more than I thought it was worth.

You got a nice start on a touring for a right price. Those doors look to be about as close to slick an smooth as any I have ever seen that weren't worked on and in shiny paint.

had a 27' touring given to me 30 years ago by one of my dads friends that he found buried at a old homestead while metal detecting. car had been completly dismantled and everything was there. story was car used in series of bank robberies taken apart then buried. sold it to a guy for his wife to keep her out of his.

    I just noticed you're in FL. :p
And it wasn't just a car wash, it was an outdoor bay! They have it open to do trailers and large vehicles during the warm months. Very handy in a case like this. ****, a little snow and cold never hurt anyone! :D

Great score. I see a highboy touring with built banger in your future. Please do not fill those bullet holes. They are the nuts.

Had a guy similar to that when we auctioned off my parent's posessions years ago. He bought over 10% of the entire auction value and would have spent more had there only been one auction ring at a time. He had no use for most of the stuff but he paid his bill when he left!. Sellers love guys like that!

Oh yeah! I'm sure the landowners were quite happy with yesterdays results. I saw other stuff there sell for big $$ that I honestly thought was worthless.
