Heard yer car at the Cheaterama and it sounded plenty stout then. Hope to hear it with the new motor!

  2. Sorry Bob... I was running late from Church and had to leave early for work and I can't hear a friggen thing in that car!!!

I'll catch up with you later today!

You guys perverted, twisted, and sick, and those are your better qualities!:D

Just dis***embled the old engine just about an hour ago and I'll be selling that very short block with that wild cam... plus the turbo 400 transmission this week... if it doesn't sell I'll see if I can get it to the "Jefferson Swap Meet".

Whoever buys it will be pretty happy with it since it has only a few thousand miles on it since it was bored 60 over and everything still looks like new!

It will sound about the same although it'll have a "Sharp" bark to it with the added compression and lighter swing ***embly!

Umm, so is it running yet? You had ALL night to get it done........slacker.

  4. Very funny knucklehead...!!!:D

I think that I'll go through the heads while I have them off and spend a little time cleaning 23,000 miles of grime off the running gear and touching up some paint!

I don't have any photo's because switching engines without a ton of engineering is as boring as watching paint dry!!!

Thanks for the video when the car was running mild...

Geez Mark, I'll definitely need to ride in your Bucket O' Blood again with that mill in place. Wow, should be a screamer!!!

  8. Well I got the old engine out and diss***embled the short block for final sales inspection. Everything looks "Steller"... almost hate to get rid of it!

However John at Rocket diss***embled the heads and discovered that I had 7 bent intake valves...!!!! So Another Friggen expense I don't need right now... Damn!

Called Edelbrock for an new set and will have to wait another week for the parts.

We were both wondering why the Dyno dropped off after 3,400 rpm...!!!

I have to blame myself for when I was degreeing the cam I set it up on the wrong timing gear marks.

So I changed it back to "zero" on the timing marks and had been running it that way since the beginning of 2008 and it seemed to run fine. Had I done leak down test it would've revealed this serious loss of horse power.

Then I decided to just clean up the engine bay a little... and 8 hours later... 3 cans of primer and 3 cans of paint later... it looks good enough for a compe***ion car.

I have to really wonder how fast this car will be running when everything is dialed in... because it was still capable of 11.70s at 120+ mph with "EVERYTHING WRONG"...!

Waiting impatiently for parts... but I'm getting closer to getting it on the road again... I think that we definitely need to get together... ;)

wish i new about this a few years ago.. i love/hate those motors! i put a low milagee 68 455 in my 58 olds. that car is huge, yet would scream! i could beat people leaving the toll booths while towing my camper!!! BUT i could never ever stop the ******* from overheating.. i tried absolutely everything. olds guys would offer up anything they thought might help ,and were as stumped as i was.. so i finally ripped it out and sold it.and yes i told the guy about the running hot he said hed figure it out lol( its still sitting on a pallet) i just put it back on the road with a 70 350 olds. it runs great and it scoots along ok, but not like the 455 did ! you or the rocket shop probly would have known what the hell was wrong with it.. ther a 375 hp torque monster when stock, i cant imagine how retarded that roadster will be with the new motor! be carefule......

This should get exciting about the time you make a full p*** with the new engine. I have the feeling it is going to be one wild ride now.

I hate to burst your bubble my good friend Mark but that ***le is solely and explicitly used for SR-71 pilots and Santa Claus of which you are niether , but you could come close to pushing MACH with your new motor.

    Enjoy and be safe

Might need the trailer if I keep finding **** that don't fit anymore....

I have a case of the incredibly shrinking "push rods"... apparently the push rods and my old cam barely worked and with the new solid lifter cam they won't work!!!

Back to "Rocket Racing" for more parts and advice!!!!

Yes I do need to weld something and I'll have you do the honors before I restock the refridgerator!!!

Interesting day... apparently Edelbrock heads come with 503 Harlan Sharp Rockers and with the cam I'm running I should be using the 501 series!

Well John at Rocket Racing Performance Milled my 503' into 501's and I got Manley... Push rods that is that were a bit longer by .050 and that seemed to eliminate the clearance issues but set me back the whole day because of the running around as well as other commitments.

Oh Well... guess I'll play "Hookie" one more day to get this finished for the "Pile Up"!!!

Got the Roadster fired up for the break-in and developed a carb issue I've never experienced before... Cracks in the housing were causing it to "LOAD UP" at idle!

Apparently I've been experiencing carb troubles this past year and blaming it on "Bad Gas" not realizing that the issue was with my primary carburetor and that the cleaning process just made it easier for the gas to seep through the cracks and flood out the engine!

Looks like the "Pile Up" is out of the question for thge roadster this year...

Anybody got a spare Edelbrock 1405 600 CFM carb laying around?

    Hey 'nutz-

I was looking in the cl***ifieds of a '63-65ish Hot Rod Magazine the other day and there was an Olds powered A roadster that looks exactly like your car, almost uncanny. Is yours a survivor car? Or maybe built to duplicate an old build?

*edit - Well nobody ever accused me of being smart. It's nothing like yours except a big hairy multicarb'd Olds. *****in car anyway, as is yours. Oct '66 HRM, and apparently Nov '65 too. Later-

  28. I love those "SURFER SCOOPS"...!

Well I got it running and worked out the carb bugs and I've got to say...

    "WARNING"

MUST HAVE BALLS TO OWN AND DRIVE

    The "ROCKET SLED"....!

THIS BASTURD IS BAD-*** and REALLY ROCKS!!!

I can't believe the difference between the two engines and the old engine wasn't a Slouch either.

As everybody knows I've driven the wheels off this thing (24,000 Miles in 3 years) and I've been on a quest of upgrading the car since day one...

This year I installed a NEW 700R4 and I've gotton 18+ mpg so I was really anxious to get the new engine in and run it at the track.

My Vision was to Install a CAGE... run anything that said 10 seconds and get 20 mpg and then Paint it Washington Blue.

With the Old Oldsmobile Engine I ran a best time of 11.705 at 123 mph with a 1.72 60 foot all from an idle with minimum traction and tires smoking for the first 1/8th mile... !

I just replaced the shortblock with a "Super High Performance 468 Olds engine" with a 11-1 compression ratio... fully balanced light weight swing ***embly and freshened up the Aluminum Heads in attempts to run it next year at the track.

I've had a blast with this car for the past few years and now it's time to let someone else find out the Joy that this car brings... I've never been flashed and photographed so many times in my life as I have with this car and I will miss it.

But hopefully someone from the HAMB will buy it and report on the Board how easily it eats Hemi's at the track and can be driven anywhere while all the racecars it beats have to be trailered!

I don't mean to be down... on the contrary,,, I plan on Succeeding tremendously in the next 6 years where I'll be able to buy it back or build another!

    Cheers Sallys...!

You could be the proud owner and future "SLED DRIVER"!

483 Cubic Inch in that 29...????? I thought mine was a big Rocket!!!!
