It is nice here. I ride motorcycles most of the year and the old car scene is fantastic.
I have several, (too many), cars and cant wait to get em going. Its 95 degrees here now, Even though thats hitting a record, its not outta control.
The drawbacks are if you leave a wrench in the sun for 10 minutes its there till you grab a rag to pick it up. All the animal and plant life either bites, stings, sticks,*****s,poisons, hurts or is dammm ugly. Scary ugly. And everywhere. I went to the upullit and there were rattlers abounding. took alot of the fun outta that. Relics are everywhere. Theyres a 61 Starliner 3 doors north that isnt for sale till granpa dies and they have my number. nothing rusts. The Military has their plane storage here. Shure, were 2 doors north of hell in the summer but its doable.
    Get together guys?

Well being frm So Cal i'd have to say HELL YES this is a car town. I've lived a few places in Sol Cal, currently Orange - let's see we've got CW Moss, Reid's Hot Rod Parts, Circle City Hot Rods, Ford Truck Store, Altered Engineering, The Chevy Truck Store, Fargo Automotive, Dagels Hot Rods, Flat Out Engineering, SAC Ch***is (Oops R.I.P.), Fast Eddies, Victory Race Cars, Cl***ic Mustang, B***ant Engineered Performance, Vintiques, the Garage etc. etc.

I guess it's a pretty good Hot Rod town for just 141,000 people

yeah, I know a guy has a few, but they're down in Sierra Vista and probably priced a bit too high...since he likes them and has no reason to sell.

my town seems to be more of a beater truck town. but then again i do live right outside of the pine barrens. i guess when you live in an area that has the ocean on one side and tree's and mud pits in the other 3 directions you cant expect to see to many old cars used as daily drivers.

    Cambridge vs Whangamata Alf???

We have a permanent population of less than 4000, although it is a holiday town. Yesterday we had a "Locals Only" show - for residents and ratepayers. 120 vehicles turned up - and I can count another 50 (incl projects) that didn't make it. You do the math.... Whangamata is one of the best cl***ic car towns on the planet :D

Mostly checkbook hotrodders in my oppinion. There are some guys building, but I think most are better with handling a checkbook than a wrench. :(

Oh, and by the way, you can view photos of our just completed Run to the Sun on our Relics & Rods Website.

The temp last Friday was 86 degrees and on Saturday it was 90 degrees. How does that compare to where you live?

Your "oppinion" is probably correct since we're all too old to handle a wrench.

Funny how that statement really only offends the ones it focuses on ;)
 I'm too old when they are throwing dirt on my casket. :D

I just LOVED this Relics and Rods show car. Taken on the golf course, behind the flagged barrier for R&R cars :D My friends and I were argueing what year it was. I thought it was a 32 with extensive body mods.

This guy was pretty cool though.

First pic shows the car. Second pic shows a close up of his hood where according to the owner his chrome fan blade came apart and a piece of it decided to try and escape through the hood.

I loved Tucson, when I visited back in 94! The old man worked at Southern Arizona rod and customs, old Tucson was cool also. I could not believe how solid the cars were! Wish I would have shipped some back then..Oh, The run too the sun still going on? Great show..

Seems like car stuff is few and far between since I moved from Southern Calif and it seems most of the people that are up here seem stand offish.

The car belongs to one of our 80 year old members on a walker. He needed to park close to where he was going to be working.

What kind of car did you enter or drive to the show?

I think there are so many old cars in Tucson because 1. nobody drives over 35 mph and 2. nobody leaves, so they never see the highway. They just last forever there.

Not unless you drive a ricer! Too many college kids, too small a "city", and too far from anything that resembles a car town!

    Weather is good though!

  28. No kidding. It was a great place to cut my car nut teeth.
Same here in the Twin Cities. Both my home towns are car towns. How lucky is that. :)
