I just bought a 47 sedan this weekend. I hauled her home thinking of all the different things she could grow up to be. Now I'm stuck Let's see some cool shots of 47's. Sedans or coupes; doesn't matter! I got some ideas brewing but they are mostly the same cookie cutter ideas I usually come up with. Let's see some pics of what you all think looks good!
Hello Tator! Just wanted to say, don't be too afraid of doing what's already been done...stock, custom, g***er, sleeper, etc. 'cause it'll be great whatever you decide. I was actually expressing my concern to my wife about building my '29 Ford roadster in "the same old way", you know...the way most of us like...traditional...until she pointed out to me that even though it may end up being similar to a lot of others, it'll still be pretty-much completely unique in my local area! And I'm not gonna make a suggestion on style...you build it how you like and how you can. Good luck. Rick
that body style screams for a little "lowrider" influence. Pinner whites, Supremes, nice flake.......
The lines are pretty goofy to start with. The hood looks like a whale coming up for air. The fenders look like they belong on a party barge. The whole car looks like a cartoon taxi. Can I gets a Amen! But you know what? It's all I had so I had to do something. I shortened the fenders 14 inches (1942ish) and sectioned the hood 5", then made the part above the grille & handmade hood latch. Frenched in a '46 grille, the '48 is wayy too wide and heavy. Anyway theres only so much you can do. I thought about cutting the rear roof and side gl*** loose as a unit and sliding it forward making it more in proportion and then sloping the back with a grafted in '49 roof I have. It'd be cool if a guru here could photoshop what I described.
Thanks for the comments guys!! 66Newport, I agree!! Whats the best way to get it on the ground, subframe....Fatmans crossmember??? I wanted to go without airbags if possible. Anybody have any picture ideas?
btt Need some more pics if anyone has something they like. How about chopping it??? Not sure that I have the skill for that but the top just looks too tall to me. Anyone have pics of some chopped sedans?
How about front end and rear end ideas? What is the easiest way to get this thing on the ground (also the most cost effective). Thanks for the pics T_Bird Guy! I really like the subtleness of the one with the green wheels. I think i grabbed that from another post here. Anyone know who owns this car?
Easiest way to get it to the ground in my opinon would use a Gambino Notch for the rear and Ch***is Eng. Inc. bolt on mustangII front end bagged with 2" drop spindles......Worked for me.... if you have any questions pm me.... ****y phone pic...
