I'm pretty sure Ralph Whitworth was the purchaser of Von Dutch's brushbox a few years back at the Brucker auction. As I recall it sold for about 275 grand.
I was looking in the RM catalog, and it looks like the box was pictured there but no evidence of it going to auction. Did it sell at the RM auction, or any idea where it is now?

Yep, that looks like it. Did it sell, or was it display only?

Beau Boeckmann ownes it. It was already sitting in this showcase 3 hours after the auction ended which leads me to believe he purchased it before the Icons of Speed & Style Auction weekend.

I've got two of those... they are the case for a cool Von Dutch book... limited production of 300 I believe.

Now, do you mean having sex with Elvis, or the HAMBers act like he's Elvis? So you apparently put Elvis on a pedestal, but others shouldn't put Von Dutch on one (?) Some of us don't like Elvis.
Man are you always this grumpy? ;)

The pic by Denise, and the one by Mazooma, are not the same piece.
Note the depth of the box.

The book was sold in a similar looking box, but wasn't as deep as the real tool box.

OK, Mazooma is showing the real one that was purchased for the 300 grand. I believe it was Whitworth that purchased it then. That is also the one in the RM auction catalog, but there is no showing of it selling. Was it up for auction at RM?
And firepig is correct. I dont think Dutch was fucking Elvis although they were contemporaries.

CHAZ, I don't think it was on the auction block last month.
R & M Auctions handled both this recent auction and the one in 2006.

Thanks, Mazooma..I'm guessing either Ralph still has it or it was sold privately. I gotta tell you though, this thread went to hilarious quickly... I'm still laughing my ass off!

Am I hearing this right? 275,000. Dollars? For a tool box? If I remember correctly the Von-D bus sold at Barrett-Jackson for under 25k and could hold a shit load more tools...

Hey, If I had loads of money I'd try to buy that toolbox. If there ever was a piece of hot rodding history with provenance, that's it!

You're very much correct on that. I think maybe a striped fridge and a few other odd's and ends were left. I just hope that brush box does't end up collecting dust on some fat cats shelf because it the "kool new thing" like billet and 300 tires on "choppers". Things like that should be shared, appreciated and inspire the next generation of Hot Rodders and Pinstripers. But then again most these kids know they can get Ed Hardy seat covers and floor mats for their import at Pep-Boys....

It's a pinstriped box, what the hell would you do with it otherwise.

Ralph is the caretaker the paint box, some may see it's value, some not, it doesn't really matter.

As for the bus, it was fairly well gutted by the time it reached auction. Someone still got a deal, I believe it changed hands again soon after the auction.

The collectors edition The ART OF VON DUTCH book in Denise's photo, is a treasure to Von Dutch collectors, long since sold out in advance of release.

A few of the Tornado Design, regular edition Von Dutch books should still be available. This book is the master work on the artwork of Von Dutch. I think it will also soon be a collectors piece, as I hear that the book is nearly sold out will not to be reprinted.
