Well I went to visit this old hot rodder friend of mine the other day. We got to talking, and he told me how pleased he was with the 41 Ford custom he'd given me a few years ago, and how I had gotten it back on the road and what not. After a while, after he'd showed me his 32 Ford and some other projects of his, he looks to me and says "I guess you're in need of a new project now, huh?" He points to a 37 Ford and says, "I will give you that as long as you get her back on the road". I said "Give?" He said "yeah, give". So I picked her up today just as I promised him. I am gonna put her back on the road too! So here's a pic to share, and if anyone would reciprocate, I'd like some pics for inspiration. Haven't decided yet on how to go, taildragger or hot rod/gasser?
Tail drag it. 37's are really cool when treated to mild custom touches. Not many people do it, but when done right it will look good .
Yea tail dragger would be sweet the gasser thing right now is getting way outta hand but I am not going to put you down either way good score better keep that old guy close.
Hot rod....NOT gasser....nose down, tail up. That's coming from a custom guy. I just like 37s better that way.
If your lookin for meaningful opinion, maybe start with the guy who gave it to you? Otherwise, I say dragger.
Let's see...22" billet wheels, s/s IFS, LT1, pastel paint w/graphics, no chrome, tweed interior... I jest! I jest!! Taildragger all the way!
cut the top off... this was the plan for the one I had or maybe make it a 3 window? I actually think they look really nice... stock... with whitewalls and just slightly lowered level stance....
Why do you feel that there is only 2 ways to build the car?? Make it your own rod. One of the benefits of building a rod, is that there are no rules. Make a nice rod, in the style you want. Don't copy. I am a little sick of gassers though.
Wish I could find a friend like that, cool car. Good luck with your build.Should look great either way you go with it.
late 50s style...nose down tail up big 'n' little WW rubber on plain steelies or chrome reverse rims no caps rings or spiders, flattie power of course dressed right up, peashooter exhaust with smitty's, all white tuck 'n' roll, black paint with traditional flames or bright red scallops with tons of fat white pin striping, ditch the bumpers and fab some nerf bars, cover the fire wall and quarter windows with vintage speed decals and stickers, a set of exhaust dumps pokin' out under the bach of the front fenders and if you don't want to go the flatty route a multi carbed SBC with a four gear would be bitchin too.
