This photo was taken between 65-69, I would like to know what this bomber seat came out of........ extra points for the gauge cluster .
the seat could be from enything, back then and right before that the were scaping alot of old planes. i asume that you are bilding a new car to match. i would look for a seat for the crew from something in the mid to late 50's era. as the seat does not look like it was wwII era or like the 60's era tankers i worked on.
I think Little Wing has it, that was my first impression. If not, look at crew station seats like arca39 said. Most pilot seats were a little higher backed. And a Corsair and Hellcat were 40s planes!
If the car has a history to it, others may have more or better pics if you can share the info on it. Not bring nosey, just trying to help.
Well yeah you got me there, the last variant the F4U-7 rolled off the production line in 1952 (For the French) so OK, they were a 50s aircraft too. In fact they served on into the 60's last seeing combat in the 'soccer war' between Honduras and El Salvador in 1969! I kinda like the F4U series as you can probably tell! Though the F2G1, now they were THE shit! Doc.
Sorry Doc, not trying to pick any nits ! I always like the ealier styles- birdcage Corsair, P51B, P40E, etc... Sorry for the thread stealing- now back to that awesome fastback Chevy II!!!
Wow,an early Charger roof mounted on an early Nova body. A match made in heaven. Finished out it maight be a very attractive street car.
Based on the height of the seat back and the arc of the sides, I am going to say that is a B-29 seat, but it's really tough to see.
That top was made by Bill Thomas in 62-63. Waaay before the Charger. The car is 1 of 3 built for road racing back in 63. In 62 it was the Chevy II then in 63 they attached the Nova to it & I want to say 69 is when it changed to just Nova.
3 days of searching on the world wide web & still cant find a pic of this seat. I have even sent the pics to WWII aircraft museum's to try & find out. No luck yet.....
the more i look at the seat, i want to say it might be a helicopter seat. but not 100% sure. looked at my vintage aircraft book and don't see that type in there. but i'm not giving up. nice to see that the nova is being redone, saw one in a book a few years ago.
