Mallory Distributors for Y-blocks

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by phartman, Oct 23, 2009.

  1. I have two old Mallory flattop distributors for Y-blocks:

    ZC 336B and ZCM 300A.

Can anybody tell me the difference between the two as far as Y-block applications? Will either one fit the 272-292-312? Thanks.

Here was I have listed in my paperwork:

    336A-F 1955-62 256,272,292,312 CID Y-block (w/o TD) Ford 8 LH
    300A-B 1954 239 CID V8 w.hex drive Ford 8 LH

Looks like 336 is the one you want to use.

  3. Oldspwr, you da MAN. The 300A is currently on Ebay. You get the distributor, the cap, the coil and a bunch of other stuff. New in box, never used. But it only has one bid. I couldn't figure out why this thing wasn't through the roof pricewise. You have solved the puzzle. Glory be to da HAMB network, the brain trust.

Sure, no problem, glad to help. Any idea what the "without TD"
    means in the description?

I found a model #yc340a and was told it was from a race Y block he ran in a Jolopy. t/d - tach drive. This one is for a t-bird? or just for a mechanical tach drive system. I figured a cool old mech. tach for my 30 model A roadster with tri-power etc. would make a nice combo

  8. Is that what you are running? Y-Block in a Model A? Can you post some pics? That's the same combo I have plans to run, along with the flattop Mallory. Nice vintage look, I believe.

Search 'Santa Margarita' here - took a pic of a Mdl A sedan there with a Y block.
