Not exactly a barn find....but close, I picked up this 29 Model A after having a converstion with one of my suppliers regarding a 31 Coupe that my dad has...He told me that his Dad had a 29 tudor, and that it was still sitting in the corner of their shop under a tarp...and had been for 35 years or so...I was expecting to go look at a potential parts car for my Dad, however once I got there this was no parts car, I asked the guy if I could bring down a battery and make play with it a bit, within an hour it was running and I drove it onto the trailer. Took it home changed all the fluids, buffed out the paint, and I drive it on a regular basis...its far from perfect, but the paint and body is so old I hate to change it...these cars are out there still, you just have to talk to people.
Nice score - try to resist cutting it up too much, it looks great like it is! These cars are a lot of fun with the banger motors.
no im going to keep it stock...ive got a pickup im working on as a toy...besides im in my 40s but I still have a healthy respect for my father...and he would kill me if i chopped the old girl up
Very nice car... My only thought is if you drive it very much how about juice brakes for safety.....? I have never been in a stock Model A but my Dad had a stock 1927 T roadster and I was not impressed with the brakes....
Man thats Just beautiful. I personally like the old restores and surivors. Saw two at The Henry Ford in Sept, a 24 all original, never out of the family T Cp. The old paint is almost no existant, but it got history and cl***. Best thing is He's not gona restore it, its just fine the way it is. The other was a Willys Knight /sleeve Valve original Opera Cp. It didn't shine but it was just as it was when it was made and its gona stay that way. Very nice 2dr. Ice man
Thats awesome.....I'm finding myself appreciating these cars more & more as they surface esp in this condition...Congrats!!
If I ever found a stock model A like this I would only change things that I could change back again. (suspension, brakes, wheels & tires, speed equipt.) That car is so cool!
The only thing I would change would be to pitch the gravel guard but other than that just drive the snot out of it. John
Enjoy it as is until you get bored with it, then do minor mechanical modifications, like an early rodder would have done. That would make it interesting and loads of fun.
Congrats , Nice score .I agree and would keep it as a surviver as a "caretaker" for future generations to enjoy .Have fun with it .
Hey that's funny. So your Dad got no parts but you got a complete running, driving car LOL. Looks real good, as others have said don't change it cos there's not many in that condition out there now and it's just great to see them being used. swifty
Abolton, your judgement and respect for this fine original are admirable. There's enough other material around for us rodders to get wild with.
the mechanical brakes will work just fine... but they should be checked for adjustment, keep every thing lubed and cleaned, replace any worn pins, clevises, and straighten or replace any bent rods.. the e-brake levers should move freely, clean every thing and paint it... Henry Ford had his new 39 ford fitted with mechanical brakes, he did not trust the hydraulic brakes. don't tailgate
hey Abolton...sure it's a barn find,if your HOWARD HUGHES! HA! just be careful ryan doesn't try and relieve you of it! HA! man a bone stock model A, what a fantastic car. you should be VERY proud my friend, and if your not. ill kick your scroney A- what? just kidding my brother of car lovers...call me POP.
