I heard about this car over the years but very few knew exactly where it was & while talking to a friend he mentioned exactly where the car was but the details where still sketchy. Me just loving the hunt for stuff like this followed up & knocked on a couple of doors where the car was thought to be but to no luck were wrong. So when i was talking to my buddy again i had mentioned i tried to find it again but it wasnt there but come to find out i was on the wrong side of the street. He asks if i'm interested in it & i'm like i'm broke man but just want to see it...He says he doesnt have the money either but gave the ok to follow up on the lead cause you never know but my chances would be its not for sale..Since the last houses i tried were elderly couples i reserved myself from going door to door again & figured i would hopefully catch the garage open or someone outside. A few months past & i score my 58 Impala so while i was out working on the car my Dad hit the local car show. When he returned home he says that car is a 1950 Ford...I'm like 'wtf are you talking about?? The car down the street he replies...its a maroon 50 Ford...the guy is out front. I'm like 'SH!T, You found it....lets go talk to him...I just want to see the car'.....So we jump into the truck & fly down....Sure enough as we pull in we can see the car...See i heard this car was buried in the garage & covered with stuff....So we get out & introduce ourselves to guy who was approx mid 40's early 50's at the most. We tell him we had heard about this car & always wondered what it was exctly...He replies, There it is...check it out...We just cleaned all the stuff from off it & around it cause i really want my Dad to get rid of it....My Dad & I just glance at each other for a moment cause we always heard people had try to buy this car several times (my buddy included) & was told its not for sale but at the same time could not believe how pristine the condition of this car. I ask the guy if its ok to take a pic & he replies 'Sure, open the doors or whatever you want'...So i just peek in the garage enough to look down the side & noticed this lil gem was perfect in everyway. He then tells me it has only like 23,000 original miles & has never seen rain or snow...I'm like WHAT?? He's like his father bought the car off the original owner who owned a Ford dealership in PA. He ordered the car new & parked it in the showroom only using it for very special occ***ions. The gentleman died & the business closed in the mid 70's were most of the posessions went to the auction block. I guess the estate took 3yrs to settle or something & is where this guys father purchased the car. He had intially took the money out to find himself a 1957 Chevy Bel Air but found this car instead. He later told us 'He just had to have this car...lol...He ran it for a couple years then parked it but still registered it from time to time. The son just kept telling us that him & his mother are forcing him to finally part with it cause his father is a what he called a "Pack Rat" (a few of you will find the humor in that statement...lmao). So we express our interest & leave our numbers for his father to call us. We talked about that car most of the day knowing like most situations we will never hear nothing. Well, we were wrong cause a few hours later the phone rings & its him....My father talks to him for awhile & next thing i know i hear my father say..."We'll take it" He proceeds to say 'Let me get things together on my end--OK?'...My Dads hangs up & fills me in...See, my Dad had just sold the 55 & this thing was right up his alley..I couldnt help but laugh thinking how this whole situation played out & how its been a looong time coming. I'm very Thankfully for everything esp knowing my Dad is going to have a car he can finally enjoy for once. This car is a very special piece & something you dont find everyday esp in this condition. The car is truely unreal....I mean i've owned some really clean cars in the past but noting like this...It does need some small mechanical things like the brakes gone through, a new water pump & stuff from just sitting but will be on the road in no time. Check out the pics but understand they do not do the car any justice...Hope you enjoy!!

Here are a couple more pics after we got the car home. It still needs a good washing & the chrome needs some tlc. But notice in the one pic you can see the reflection of my 58 in the garage...Its just such a kool little car. I got the windows washed, with all the chrome inside & gave it a good vacuum job.

While it was outside the guy stopped to drop off a few other parts he found that goes with it. Also, had a brand new set of wide whites in the trunk too. But, He ran his hand down the front fender & just had that look to him. I knew it was hard for him to let go of it esp to be forced but then a small smile came to his face then says "I got some trophies at home.... It took a couple 1st place...got alot of 2nds but dont recall getting a 3rd...lolol...He hung out for like a hr 1/2 just telling me car stories. We then shook hands & i gave him a hug said Thanks...I promised we'd pick him up from time to time to hit a cruise in it. Here he is with his old flame one last time...lol Thanks

No you're not alone. The pictures were really taken in 1951, right.

  20. That old fellow ain't so old. He'd fit right in with our Old Fards' Club.
I hope my kids don't try to force me to sell any of my toys, they'll be damn sorry if they do.

Some cars should be left in their original state. This would be one of them. Please enjoy just the way it is. Fantastic story, and a great find!

Great find; your story reminds me of how I got my first Triumph (bike). I was told the guy's name and the general area of where he lived. I knocked on every door until I found someone that knew him and ended up with a 2,374 mile one owner bike that just needed a battery and gas to run for $450.

You and me both....I couldnt believe when i layed on the garage floor to look at the underneath to see how clean everything was like the gaps & seems....usually they look like a fat chick in spandex...
Maybe...i've stopped going but we'll see...depends on who goes.

Thats the plan...although i would like to see it a lil lowered and some different caps :)

Its basically what i do...NO JOKE!!...Stay tuned cause i'm getting pics together of cars like this i've found over the last couple of years....My favorite was a 40 Ford i busted my *** for years to see & just as i was going through my divorce..She called me to come get it...I had to p*** it onto a friend. I wanted that car soo bad and i know the chances of ever getting it are slim to none...

I was shocked to see it was one too & bugged when i saw the wheel...I dont think my Dad fully understands what is but appreciate it none the less..I told him that wheel pulls 'dumb dumb money'...maybe it was the slang!!...lmao

    Awesome looking little car....

Everyone else Thanks for the comments & will def. keep ya posted on the progress esp once it hits the road again.

Tom, HOLY ****! What a find! You'll have to tell me more about it at breakfast tomorrow. This is some exciting ****, for sure. And a Crestliner to boot...my tongue is hanging out to the floor.

Cool, As it's a Crestliner I wouldn't change a thing on it. I've liked that model since they were new and dad said they were way too expensive. We ended up with a 51 club coupe or sedan. All I remember is that it was green and had two doors.
