Event Coverage La Carrera

The trailer is loaded and we leave for Laredo in the morning. Friday cross the border and on to San Miguel, eventually arriving in Huatulco to start the race on the 23rd.
The "Lucky Taco" is ready to roll.
Anyone else from the HAMB going down to race or spectate?

Man I wish I was going. Participating in the La Carrera is something on my to-do list before I die. I really want to run my '58 Studebaker Commander HT but I looked over the rules and it doesn't fit into a class which kinda sucks.

Our car is a '54 Olds and we compete in the "Original " class which means mods are limited to safety. Wish I could post a picture but the best I can do for now is send you to search "Lacarrerablogspot2007" and then seach in the blog "Lucky Taco".
One of these days I have to research putting up pictures on here.

Very cool. Have fun. Say HI to my old friend Jon Kennedy if he is running again this year in the Merc.

 

We have a new "stock" engine from Ross (thanks Tony), new rubber; BFG G spots, new 3 speed trans, all new front end overhaul with nos and repop parts $$$$, and a trailer full of cookies to hand out. I guess we're ready.

LCP teams from North America make up The Coyote Convoy and head out thru Mexico. It's a tradition to stop in the beautiful village of San Miguel de Allende for a two day stop over to rest after having driven thousands of miles and while there they have a car show. This was taken today. (Sunday) and they will leave early tomorrow morning for one hell of a long drive.

As things turned out maybe the phrase... "The "Lucky Taco" is ready to roll." was not such a good idea. During today's qualifying, my good friend Clyde Morter, rolled The Lucky Taco off the road and into the jungle. I am waiting for a phone call to find out how Clyde and his navigator are and if the car is repairable.

Not everyone had run yet when I recieved a phone call but besides Clyde a Porsche and a Jag had crashed as well. From what I heard the Jag had a sticky throttle.

Update on Lucky Taco. I was able to get Team Lucky Taco hooked up with the Ferrari dealership in Mexico City and they are on their way to pick up The Lucky taco as I type this.
