Hey guys, was about to order a new set of Firestone 6.70 15 wide whites for my 54 Chevy. I dismounted the tires that were on it this morning (was funny how many different patches the tubes had!) and noticed the size was 7.75 15. They looked about right on the car and measured 27 1/4" tall. The Coker catalog lists the 6.70's at 28.58" tall. Just wanted to make sure I don't order too tall a set of tires. Any input or pics is appreciated. Thanks Jim
Im runnin 6.70s on my 52, stock size. They look very "right", but require a little more cutting to get the car down in the weeds. Most 6.70s are within .75 inches of one another.
I run 6.70 on my 49. If you are going to c-notch the frame and get it really low, you will have to do some major work to the wheel tubs, like make new ones.
You should be able to get the 6.70 size tire in various whitewall widths. Depends on what you like. They have the 4 inch (real wide) or some not quite so wide, which I happen to like. They are closer to 2 3/4" wide. Got mine from Coker Tire----are Firestone reproductions. Then, I have another set mounted on stock rims that are just a little wider white. They're 7.10 - 15s.
The car on the left... What rim size is are you running there... are those 15x6's. I found a set very similar to them (if not exact) I'm about to buy online, and just want to be sure there are no issues with tie rods & stuff. I'm trying to put together a wheel and tire combo for my 54 Belair. Thanks
