  1. I saw this car at Bonneville, just an idea. I really liked the look of it.

Get it running and see how it runs. If it runs good and you don't have to put a lot of money into it, clean it up and drive it.

I'll bet that paint will shine right up! Nice find.

  5. Well, after reading through the whole thread, and watching your video of the start-up, I thing it would be a crying shame to do ANYthing except clean the the hell out of it and drive it. At LEAST, if you need to sell it, sell it to a dedicated Studebaker person. Any car in that condition that's been around that long, and is brought back to running again, deserves better than being hacked on. Just my 2 cents...

YOU **** ! I had to pay a lot more for the '63 Lark I got to replace the '63 Stude Cruiser I totaled. Seriously, great find! Clean it up , fix the brakes, and run it for a while. You'll probably need to put some new seals in the engine to keep enough oil in it to go downtown, but they are available and fairly reasonable. If you decide to get rid of it, please consider getting it to a Stude nut that will keep it A Studebaker...ME !

  9. Clean it up, get it running & drive it around with a small for sale sign on it...I would keep it personally

only difference between the 259 and 289 is the stroke and of course the engine number. If you post the umber sombody with a studie book can look it up. The number is on a boss, on the head just to the front of the drivers side rocker cover.

If I had found that it would already be getting a transplant with the 570hp 355 SBC/5spd Doug Nash combo I've got. It would be accompanied by some suspension and brake upgrades to enhance the handling. When finished i'd go hunting some Camaro/Mustang egomaniacs just to amuse myself.

man what a great find!! i have been trying to find one of those for over 50 years!! when i was young and saw Dave Koeffle and his Flintstone flyer II run, i was hooked. i have seen a few for sale in all this time but, never quite the right price or to far away or not really the right year. if we lived closer that would be in my garage today. Damn

FalconWagon, hey, lookin' good! From the first pix, I thought we were talking SEDAN. But YOU have a hardtop! GREAT!!! Wow. Something THAT nice, gotta keep it nice, like 345 said.

BTW, I got down yesterday to inspect the '55 DeSoto rim I'd offered. They only take FULL wheel covers. Not enough of a central rim for dog dishes to fasten to, buddy. I am sorry I can't help, as the DeS middle-rim structure is nothing like the Studes you have pictured. But I tried!

The pics of your barn find make me wish I had my '59 Lark hardtop again. That right rear tail light lense is available through Studebaker International. (www.Studebaker-intl.com ).
Another source of great informaiton is the Studebaker Drivers Club Forum. Go to http://www.studebakerdriversclub.com/

Go luck with the hardtop. Oh, and by-the-way there is also a big Studebaker swap meet in York, PA early in March. Lots of good stuff their used and new. Usually lots of sheet metal, etc. I'll be there along with a lot of other Stude folks from all up and down the east coast and the rest of the country. Exact dates will be on the SDC website, just click on the events ****on.

Been 3 week, I now have the missing/damaged quater panel trim, a complete set of matching tail lights, the 15 x 4-1/2 wide Studebaker wheel, the missing rear script, the missing poverty cap, have had tires installed on the stock wheels and re-installed them today, bought the patch panel for the floor, and bought both rocker panels (need installed) went out today, after 2 weeks of sitting, the darn thing fired right up! and it was a high of 41 today in Trenton, Ohio, I have decided to try to find somebody who has to have this car! I like it, but I am not a Studebaker freak! I have 9 other cars in my collection and this one will be sitting a while, till I can get to work on it much, I may try to get the brakes fixed in a week or two, but I want to wrap up Nova Vicki's 57 hardtop, her 59 Apache, my 35 Master 2 door sedan, and my 58 Porsche 356 GTR widebody, so I have my hands full. But I will work on it between everything and have it ready to drive by spring...Here are a few I snapped today, after putting the stock wheeks back on....John
