Hi,my name is Jim and I am from Jackson,Michigan. I have an automotive service center as well as a bike shop. I am here to read and maybe learn a thing or 2. I might also be able to help someone out with a technical question but I don't know everything nor do i claim to know everything. Owning a business in Michigan is not much fun as it is hard just to keep your head above water. The past few months have been really hard for my family and I as we lost our middle son who p***ed away at the age of 26 to sleep apnea. yesterday would have been his 27th birthday. Not trying to bring you all down, just letting you know where I am at. Clayton worked with me at the shop. Anyway,I thought it might be cool to find a project to work on and bring everybody together. our youngest, who is 21,is into the fast and furious type of cars. They are pretty cool and i like the electronics but I am thinking something simple and clean. I have a lot of equipment but don't have things like a power hammer. I do have a good welder including tig attachment. I have never really tig welded anything but know I would like to learn. I also have a stud welder for pulling dents, good plasma cutter, band saw, ect. I even found a mill that I have to still pick up and get it wired. I have never used a mill but sure I can learn. Anyway,I al looking to get back into life,so to speak, whether it is a truck or car. I had a chance to get a 1960 dodge 2 door for around $1200. It could have been different and cool just didn't have the extra money-sorry to say. Financially,it pretty much ****s in Michigan for now,but it will pick up at some point, hopefully sooner than later. I am here to read and learn. Maybe,i'll find something to do some trading on or whatever. I see some guys are into slot cars. I have many slotcars from about 8 years ago including a drag car that has never been run. It was built by the guys at DRS and has som kind of special magnet motor. I have forgotten the exact specs of the motor but at the time there were only 3 or 4 motors like it. The car cost around $500 which I thought was kinda crazy. So,that is pretty much it in a nut shell. Jim
Thanks guys. It has been several months since I joined and I am still looking for a car or truck to work on. I do have a couple of bike projects and work on them as I get the extra money for parts. I do have a 1982 Yamaha Venture Royale that I would trade for a project that is more or less complete. The less body work needed the better and hopefully comes with engine and trans. Been reading a lot and going through lots of posts and ads when I have the time. Last night I was up until 3am reading through the site. Dog then woke me up at 7am. Talk with you later
