I know it`s tough times right now for a few folks, so a trip to Japan is out of the question.
So I guess this is directed more to our European and Asian members.
Hell I`m right down the street so I have no excuse for not attending this show.
(Okinawa is only a 45 min flight)

Any one else making any plans to go to this years show?

This will be my last tour in Japan so I plan on haveing a good time.:D

My wife and I went to that show in Yokohama in 2007 and had a blast. Awesome one day event put on by Shige and his Moon-crew. Hard to believe he gets on a plane and throws the Mooneyes X-mas Party in California a week later. Hard working guy!

Wish we could go again. Have fun Comet!

Went in 06 with a mate of mine, Striper from on here. we had the best time.
Get to the Moon shop on the Saturday afternoon, and make sure you get a
invite to the pre-show gig at the show on the Saturday nite. it`s just for the
vendors and overseas guests." Thats you brother ". They love people from
other countrys, it`s a real honor for them. They are so cool.
Lots of real cool bikes at that show also. You`ll have a ball mate.

  5. I am maybe 30 minutes by train to Yokohama... BUT... I may have to be in Okinawa for work that weekend.. I regret a reoccurring theme here, I have been "on the rode" for work the past 3 December shows... Job schedule not firm yet so may be a chance I will be able to meet all.

I got my ticket about 1 week ago.....only $811 roundtrip outta Moline IL.

Last year it was $1200 so I guess I actually booked at a decent time this year.

Last year I got there and realized I did not bring the right mix of merchandise.........this year I will try to refind that a bit and hopefully at least break even and pay for the hotel, airfare, and table at the show.

People in the midwest that like the Vintage Torque DVDs like to see the stuff that happens at that show. At least that is what the emails say......

SO I have an excuse to go over there - I call it a work trip. Since we also sell Japanese Toys - going over right before Christmas makes sense. Buy some stuff and throw it up on ebay, along with the special request items that we find for customers here in the states.

Here is a you tube segment from a couple of years ago I did:

    and here is last year:

J, say it ain't soooo! Call in sick man, I owe you a bottle of wine! Seriously, isn't there something you can do, I mean where else am I going to get such awesome BBQ in Japan!?!:D

My Buddy here in Okinawa (Isamu) will also be setting up a booth at the show.
    Here`s his site
    http://ismartandcustoms.blogspot.com/

Can we call his booth "Ground Zero" for all the members to meet up?

My other buddy Richiro from Kyushu will also be attending.
    Here is his shop:

I have only ever meet 2 other members and that was like 3 years ago in Winston-Salem for the Heavy Rebel Weekend.

I think it would be preety neat since this will be my first and last Yokohama show.

How hard is it to get around over there if you only speak English ?

  17. i've been wanting to go to this show for years. For some reason i always thought it would cost me thousands to attend. I gotta go for sure next year.

Tokyo is not bad. All the hotels speak English and most restaurants. I'll make an open offer to any Hamber needing translation ***istance or general help. This doesn't mean I'll be your travel agent though, but I can probably make a recommendation on where to stay close to the event.

Most if not all signs at train stations, street signs etc. have romaji (alphabet) "translations" on them. So if you know the name of were you want to go, at least you can read it. You'll find people generaly polite, helpful and eager to practice their english.
    Wish I was going!

  20. Absolutely, Tokyo is a very English friendly city. Maps can be found very easily at most all hotels. There are of course the high dollar places, but one can find many surprisingly affordable hotels as well, some not far from Yokohama in fact.

Don't worry about not speaking Japanese. The key is to have some patience.
I will be staying at the Isekouki (sp) Washington Hotel which is right down the street from the event.
I can have a good time and then stumble home (bonus)

The hotels are filling up fast though so if you wait to long you might be taking the train from the outskirts of town. Which still isn't a bad deal or very hard to get around.

BTW......thats only ONE of the train companies maps, and you'll notice it only covers about 10 miles squared (not even to Yokohama!!!!)

I'd love to go again John, but the new Missus n kids are coming here from Japan in Jan, so Im flat out finishing cars and setting up a swingin pad.

But Her and the kids are planning on going back EVERY year! ;););)

When are y'all gonna come to Melbourne for 'The Picnic"???
