    Motor:
Its a .030 over 360 block from a 71 Dodge pickup, econo W2 heads (unported for now),Hedman Hustler fenderwells,Victor intake ,750 Demon ,Msd dist and 6al box,Holley blue pump,Edelbrock hyd. cam,Harland Sharp rockers, stroker crank (i think its one of those chinese jobs),eagle rods, keith black 10 to 1 pistons.

    Trans:
powerglide ,with a J and W safety bell adapter, turbo 400 imput shaft, manual valve body ,transbrake (which i havent tried yet),and a 3000 or so Neil Chance convertor.

    Rearend:
8 3/4 from the same 71 pickup that the block came from (narrowed to fit the Dart),with 4.10 gears ,full spool ,and 35 spline Mosier axles.Totally stock 63 Dart 6 cylinder original stuff as far as the springs go ,and no traction devices.

    Frontend:
All stock 6 cylinder Dart (rebuilt of course),73 Duster disc brakes and Control arms on front
,stock 63 torsion bars (that i backed all the way off).

I made sum subframe connectors form 2x2 sqaure tubing that i welded from the trans cross member to the rear sub ,and through the rear floor .I think the connectors cost me about $20.00 to make and a day to weld in.

    Thats about it ...

Car is getting better, but the driver SUCKS!:D

  6. Sweet! Would better rear springs help any? A-bodies did have a 6 leaf option. I have them on my 65 Barracuda. Does your Dart have the heavy factory undercoating? Wish I hadn't missed the drags now.

Im no expert ,but IMO no ,the springs are fine.I added a leaf to each side before the drags ,but it felt to ridged to me .I went with my gut and removed them before the event. The undercoating looks thin to me on the Dart.If you look at this vid of one of my passes ,you can see that the car raises in the rear against the brakes on the starting line, and then slams down when i drop the hammer as the front end springs up transfering the weight to the rear tires.I think this is why its hooking with the tiny slicks ,plus the high first gear in the Glide.I am affraid to mess with it ,since i saw the vid from the rear.It looks perfect to me ...

Your car looks really good on the launch. I did some "dyno work" on your engine combo and it seems that you are getting the most you can out of your engine, cam changes didn't help very much so the "bottle neck" is the cylinder heads as they are maxed out, a good port job should get you into the 10's without doing anything else to your engine. I also talked to a friend of mine who builds race engines, after I told him what your engine combo is he immediately said that your cylinder heads are holding you back, he said a good 3 angle valve job, reworking the bowls, and gasket matching the ports blending them into the stock ports around 3/4" in will really help tremendously.

Thanks Kenneth for the tips on the motor.I am considering just pulling the heads as well.May as well have them ported and have the springs upgraded at the same time .You wouldnt change the cam while you were in there? They made a race version of these W2's but they use real high dollar valve train on them. The ones on mine are the street car version from the late 70's with 2.02 /1.60 valves and angle plugs thats where the "econo" W2 comes from ,from what i am told...

  10. Your right, seems to be working great as is. The under coating can add up to a bunch of unneeded weight, but a real PITA to remove.

Once the heads are ported I would go with a small solid roller cam, something like a Compcams 308R has 308 deg duration on the intake and exhaust, and .575" lift on the intake, and exhaust, it will work with the 10.1 compression, 750 carb, 4.30-4.88 gears, 4000-5000 stall convertor, and makes power in the 4000-7200 rpm range. I have a simular cam in a 302 (with Herbert mech roller lifters) in a 66 mustang I used to have (I'm putting the 302 from the mustang in my altered), it pulled great to almost 7500 rpms.

  12. Daniel...aka "Mr Shocker" now. A great big Congratulations for you pulling off a personal goal(actually a goal for a bunch of us:rolleyes:...hahaha) of "under 11.50's. You looked like you were having fun, the few times that I looked up.

I'm tellin' you, Mopar S/S springs and you'll be 11.10 or maybe quicker, no other changes. about $250 for the pair from Mancini. Oh, but you will need the long rear shocks for them to work right too, so even if you figure another 100...

Yeah but the motor is running out of balls about 150 ft from the lights.I think im even hearing the valve springs float over 6000 in high gear. You are that sure about the springs and shocks ???
