What a blast! Let me start a bit off topic and say congratulations to Rocky for winning yet another cl*** trophy, to Lee for going two rounds in such heavy hitting company, to Joe for taking home the HAMBie and to Butch for making it all possible. Gentlemen, it was a unique and fun weekend. One for the books. Despite a collection of cir***stances that brought only three HAMBsters, the meet set a record of over 300 cars. The single draw back to it was that it only allowed for two T&T runs for Saturdays qualifications. First up on Saturday during quals I got to run Lee for our first round of HA/GR and promptly logged an -.034 red eye to hand it over. Most irritating, but even more so as I ran a new best of 13.255 @ 103.87 in the process. We'd hoped for a mid 13 when we got back to a full quarter after finally correcting the manifold problem we've thought to be a carb, then valve, then ignition problem for so long. So a low 13 came as a surprise, but there was more. I lined up for second round of quals just in front of Lee and Joe who were paired to decide the HAMBie. I worked the clutch a bit harder and turned in a completely unexpected 12.941 @ 105.50 for the first left coast 12 sec HA/GR run. Joe's subsequent run gave our record a shelf life of less than 30 seconds as he ripped off a 12.36 @ 109+ to nail down the HAMBie (and on but five holes to boot). On starting the car for a timing check that evening I heard a rod knocking and (after verifying it) had the regrettable duty of having to stand down (no way I'm going to oil Butch's strip down). It was at least mollified by Saturday's advances of slightly more than a second in ET and 12 mph. I'm sure the rest of the guys'll be along to tell the rest of the stories so I'll leave it here .......
****, sorry I didn't get to see you on Sun. I wondered why your ride was sitting idle. Sorry to hear your problem but the pheonix will rise again! And congrats on your 12 sec run. Congrats to Joe and Lee too. If Lee hadn't had to run his Vista Cruiser ****** he'd been right in there. But most of all, way to go Rocky!!! I'd say October of 2009 has been a pretty good month for our friend. Eagle Field a smashing success and a Final AND Champoinship win in E/Gas. Can I rub your head for good luck? Good show HAMBie Boys, good show! Give 'em Hell next year!
had an awesome time sure wish old6 coulda been the spoiler for our points leader as he drew him in the first round and i wish i coulda done my job a little better but there is next year and im already campaignin more power for the season opener was so glad when the old man clinched the championship in the semi final and then won the event when a heavy hitter went red in the final .......all in all a great season and even better times with good support and even greater people
Wow! West Coast HAGR's in the 12's. That's a nice way to end the season, ****. I'll bet everyone shovels a little more oats into their engines this winter.
More'n likely, the flag's definitely up. I think Joe has some of our guys thinking a bit more seriously about the cl*** now, and having Butch's Open Wheel (bracket) cl*** to run in's been a tremendous opportunity. However, out here it's beans (refried of course) we shovel in .... No sweat Katuna, you were busy. Gentlemen, over 300 cars showed up, even the Jr Dragsters outnumbered some top fuel shows. Hell, friday evening looked like most meets' Saturday evenings. It seemed the pits were already fully filled when we sacked out. And you're dead on, Rocky certainly has had a dream year for '09 as well, eh wot? The boy deserves every bit of it, too. I can hardly wait for the festivities at the opener next year.
